I'm a Writer and a Game Designer. Well, now a Game Programmer!But, because of the latter, I don't have much time for much of the former. But I try.
I'm currently writing three fanfictions-- two Pokemon, one Sonic one-- and an original one that won't be put up on this site. I've fallen behind on updating all three to dA unfortunately.

Heh, take your time. I've been stuck in Aquifer for awhile and to make sure things run smooth it's not getting updated until I'm through the mini-arc I've been having trouble with.
But I recommend reading Aquifer via Fanfiction.net, it has the most recent fixes and edits.

Not too far. I was taking a college class over the summer and needed to prioritize it over the PMDT5K project. Likewise, this fall semester is a bit crazy for me so it's been pushed back until things simmer down.
But as far as completion, the first step is to figure out how the original PMD games work. To that end, between ScytheRider and myself, we've got a floor generating random-sized rooms that are then connected with hallways (I did the first iteration of the generation code, Scythe took it and blew it out of the park). These rooms are generated via tiles, and we can say what type of Pokemon can stand on certain tiles (example, fire mons on lava tile). Traps are in, marked as special tiles and work. The staircase is counted as a trap as it's something done at the end of each move. Nonetheless, this lets limit character movement without a single collision check. Speaking of characters, there's a Player character and an Enemy character. Neither can move through walls, the Enemy only moves after the Player does. The foundation of the combat system is in and I have a prototype "press Button to see attack grid, press other button to attack"and that works for the player. But as far as the Enemy, right now it's Touch Fuzzy Get Dead. There's also a "very" rudimentary menu system that handles menu pathing/returns and an Item menu screen that fills with items you pick up, but you can't do anything with them yet if I remember right.
So it's the foundation of the game, nothing too amazing. But it was done in like a few months, working about once a week. When I have the time and the energy to get back to it I'm sure I can rapid prototype it into something cool.

Ah, thanks for describing how it has progressed. It surely seems like something much more suited to single player gameplay (since Pokemon Mystery Universerse grabbed the multiplayer stuff). Nonetheless, I do wonder what you two could pull off working together. Possibly an emotional story, but it's in the air for now.

It got delayed until today (....oh wait it's Saturday now--when did it turn Saturday?! Delayed until Friday), but it went great. A few ums and errs, but overall it went fine. It's not too critical of a presentation, it's a 'do your best and see how you can improve' sort of deal while we pitch our summer game project to the class. (um, that's not the PMD project, just to avoid confusion.)
I like to think doing all the streaming is helping me actually, with the talking for extended periods of time of which I'm not normally used to. So hey, it's all coming together.
