... okay? Done after your essay got "Pick of the Day" in DLDs, 3/7/12. I have an old journal entry about writers that's somewhat similar, though not about love poetry.

If you're still around, I've posted a new poem and I'd love your thoughts. It's a just a little bit gritty, though, be forewarned.

Ed, I'd just like to say that you and as an extension of yourself your son have been a great influence in my life. You are almost a father figure to me and your son has become my brother. I hope you don't mind me adopting myself into your family over the years

And for the love of anything bigger than ourselves. Don't stop writing.

Hi Ed! It's good to see you around again. I haven't really been on DA much myself, being in my honours year at university kind of takes up all my time. I happened to be looking over some of my old stuff, and I noticed your name didn't have the "!" next to it any more so I decided to investigate

Today is poetry day in New Zealand. Pity I couldn't stay to listen to the readers!

Hey Ed! It's James! I finally got a deviantart back in December because I decided I would try to "spread my roots", if you will, with my poetry.

I've been pretty short on time, working too many hours. My avatar when I was on a couple of years ago was the "Turquoise Crystals" photo in my gallery, but I'll need a bit of help to adjust it to the right size or something.

Thanks for stopping by.

Ben tornato, Ed. I'm afraid I'm not here any more. I've got nothing interesting to say about anything. I imagine there are some new faces with talented heads out there, but I was never prolific and I was finished by 21. I wish you all the best, and sincere thanks for your recent comments.

Holy excrement, thou hast returned!

I do wonder, whether you being a "poets' poet" is based on the description of Carlo Bergonzi as the "tenors' tenor"?

(I'm into epistemology and the maths of baroque music now, and have started writing Socratic-influenced prose, even though much isn't on dA; just to keep you updated.)

Robsonnet In reply to Jmas [2008-01-17 23:31:07 +0000 UTC]

Aye, like the proverbial bad penny.

Poet's poet is partly an affectation, a hint at the size of the ego my natural modesty conceals, and partly an observation that the folks who are fondest of my writings tend to be other writers.

I'll have to check out this S.I.P. genre you've invented. Sounds interesting. But I'm glad to see you haven't given up sonnets.

Hi Ed. Have a link you might like--I can't help myself, I have to share him.

[link]

Especially, "To Autumn," "Ode to a Nightingale," and of course the obligatory (and rightfully so), "Ode on a Grecian Urn."

Also, "When I have fears that I may cease to be." (I think this one will be of some personal significance for you.)

Let me know what you think.

As I understand, the importers in the old port of N.O. were concerned about how much money they were losing on the bags of coffee that would get soaked by salt water sloshing around in the bilges of the wooded sailing ships that brought it in from South America. Perhaps they got the idea from Africa--that I don't know--but chicory was what they finally found to cover the taste of the salt. Lo and behold, the locals decided chicory coffee was actually an improvement over the original product. Mixing it half-and-half with scalding milk must have been a later development. That's still my first priority whenever I come home, to visit Café du Monde if I come to NO, or Coffee Call if in Baton Rouge.

highpriestess In reply to Robsonnet [2006-02-08 07:22:37 +0000 UTC]

I didn't know that. I do know the chicory used in W. Africa is slightly different than what I've had in the U.S. The family I lived with roasted their coffee and chicory every morning. I was woken early morning by it being pounded into a perfect grind. Most families there drink it with just sugar, but on special days, they add sweetened condensed milk and it becomes candy coffee - heaven!
