Hi Joline! I've been trying to reach out to you regarding your AB chibi commission for a sketch approval. It looks like you have been on DA but haven't read my note yet so I'm leaving a comment here hoping you will see this and get back to me soon.

My goblin king and I thank you for giving him a place in your collection, Joline
Really like the pictures you made of your Dallan and the cozy living room you made for him.

Hi so, I just stumbled onto (one of) your commissions from anndr kind of at random, and I see from earlier comments that it must be from a book you're writing. The world of the book looks absolutely fascinating. Is there a place I could follow your progress, to know when/if it will be posted/published somewhere?

Siriusstar76 In reply to ForsakenTerra [2012-09-12 07:10:09 +0000 UTC]

I am still in the process of writing the 1st draft of what I think will be the first book in the series. (I have lots of shorter pieces from earlier and later in the story, but I am getting serious about making a real novel out of the part I am writing now.) I will be posting everywhere, including here and on my LJ: 'siriusstar' and Facebook 'Joline Desrosiers' when I am finally ready to show it to the world.

Thanks for your interest! At this stage it is really helpful to know that people find the world interesting enough to ask about.

Awesome! I'll keep an eye out then. It's definitely a story I'm interested to learn more about.

I came here as well to hear the story based on anndr's intriguing illustration. Thank you for posting it in response to Elfdawn11's question. Is this a tale you've written or intend to write for publication? I'd love to read it.

Thanks! I am still writing it and there are still many pieces to put in place, but I hope to see it published one day.

I'm intrigued by your character depicted in the commission you asked of anndr. Would you be willing to tell us a short description? What is the world like? What is the instrument called?

Siriusstar76 In reply to Elfdawn11 [2012-01-27 08:05:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I'd be happy to.

That commission is of Sumner, Bell-master of the Lemari. The Lemari are the second born people of the planetary goddess Astraea. Their name means 'People of the Bells.' It is said in their lore that the bellflowers bloomed and sang at the time of their birth. (Astraean bellflowers β€˜sing’ in the wind.) From their earliest days the Lemari tended the bellflowers and learnt the art of growing and shaping them before they could consciously use their power. Although the magic of the Lemari comes from their own spirits, their cultivation of the bellflowers amplified and helped them master their power. As they matured (as a people) the Lemari began making bells out of many different materials and in countless designs, each with its own magic and tonal quality. Some of their concerts take place in bell pavilions where one or two Lemari will play hundreds of different chimes, bowls and bells. Some specialize in one or two types of bells, but the Bell-Masters can play all of them proficiently.

The Lemari were a magically powerful, very long-lived, peaceful and clever people of a gentle goddess. On Astraea they had no natural enemies, a relatively small population and plenty of resources. They knew nothing of warfare or weapons. Their natural curiosity and passion for music helped them evolve as a people much as our need for survival drove our evolution. Not all of the Lemari are equally skilled in the bell-arts, though most know how to play them.

Sumner is one of the greatest bell players that ever lived. He was born on Astraea, but was forced, along with the rest of the Astraean peoples, to flee when Astraea’s star reached the end of his life. They knew much sorrow and heartbreak on earth. (Which is much too long a story to go into here!) When Sumner’s beloved Taria was killed by a rebellious Atlantean, Sumner killed his wife’s murderer, becoming the first Lemari to ever intentionally kill. He then gave up his precious bells and learned the sword in order to protect his people.
