/It was a cold day today, the underground seemed to be quiet. A little too quiet. Papyrus had decided to get a breath of fresh air, but something caught his eye. A seed. A large seed, about as big as a grapefruit, pathetically laying in the snow. It's outer shell hard and veiny, like a walnut. It was strange. Like it didn't belong here, not on this planet. Scattered around this seed, Partially buried in the snow, was a bunch of plant matter. Rather large leaves and branches.

/the skeleton raised a non-existent eyebrow at the enormous seed
/it was unusual, to say the least. after all, this is snowdin, which is underground.
/though, that made him more curious. if a plant like this could survive down here....
/he picks up the large pod and carries it back home under his hoodie

/he could nearly feel the seed moving in his hands. It was alive and kicking, and ready to be planted. What could it be? Could this perhaps be a baby floran seed, abandoned?
/florans are hardy plants. They went need specific conditions. They just need heat, water, and soil. Should be easy, right?

/papyrus sat at home in thought for a while. he did notice the slight movement inside--
/perhaps a baby plant monster? well..he's never seen plant monsters anywhere.
/but even so, whatever is inside is alive in the sense that it could probably think and feel-
/he sensed the inkling of a soul inside after all.
/welp-- time to get to work
/He began by asking for advice from his friend behind the door to the ruins. he knows the guy enjoys a bit of gardening and mostly uses those skills to grow tea plants-
/after getting the basic requirements together he used a large bowl as a planting pot.
/he thawed out the woody pine mulch underneath the snow in the forest as a detritus soil substrate, got fresh water from a spring in Waterfall, and asked sans to keep the inside of the house nice and toasty despite not needing the heat themselves-
/and as a final touch, he emits a bit of magic as makeshift sun energy.

/The seed sat there dormant. Its little soul stabilizes within the plant shell. Its almost like the shell itself is alive and squirming. The baby develops. Usually florans would take 2-3 months to fully grow and hatch from their pods. Papyrus would need to wait patiently. oh so painfully. The conditions were perfect. Simulating a nice damp jungle floor, perfect for nutrience.
/Every hour or so, it would wiggle and move. One can see it almost breathing...

/papyrus would spend most of his time caring for the pod, and watching it closely as much as possible.
/weird request, he asked other monsters for jars of their breath because carbon dioxide and whatnot-
/since he doesn't really make it the plant is just subject to whatever is in the air, so-
/about a month in he actually had a thing made- kind of like those things you put on to carry babies hands-free, but built for the potting bowl
/so he's just carrying a potted plant on his chest
/he used it whenever he'd go outside of snowdin-
