My story is about many things, in a way. But what happens... well, I guess you could say there is confusion about gods, war, and lots of rubbish XD And my main character is kind of the reason for it. Man, it sounds so wrong when you try to make it short O_o

LOL..I know exactly what you mean...I have a fantasy novel that's about 38 pages long (about 30,000 words) and when people ask what it's about, I cringe because I know without telling them everything that happens, they'll never know exactly what it _IS_ about.....

Yeah, I know. Hey, 38 pages? That´s great work! Is it done, then? I haven´t been able to actually FINISH anything except from Zelda fanfics (the longest is on 72 pages O_o), and they were written when i was around 12.... I have some started, though, and some of them have reach the incredible amount of 50 and 60 pages... but I always come up with something new and better before I finish, or the idea just crashes.

Do you have your own world you use and stuff like that?

My own world, my own map, own timelines.....just added about 4 pages more the other day.....it's a slow work in progress, but I enjoy it :) (Smile)

I have about 4 or 5 other stories I work on occasionally...I have the hardest time ENDING anything.....they just seem to drag on and on and on....

How cool! I am doing lots of work on my world too (my newest journal says some about it, in the comments too). I love doing maps and making histories of what happened before the time it is in now, creating animals and other races and making religions and all that stuff wich follows :) (Smile) I have no timelines yet, though. It's only recently that I really started working on it in that great detail. I'm trying to make things logical there, but at the same time make the magic fit in - that's hard X.x
It's stuff like this we should learn in school Wink/Razz

I agree....so many kids who have no control over their real lives would benefit by creating a world where they have total control....timelines help smooth the flow of time...they can explain big gaps in the storyline, such as a largescale war that disrupted the original storyline, and it also helps you coordinate events between two characters. In mine, I find timelines handy when figuring out ages. Dahija is 36 when Thorna was 13...Billa is 356 when Theo is 42....etc....

I see the benefit of creating timelins, I think I will soon, too. You know, my biggest problem for the moment, is to decide actually what is going to happen in the story. I know what I want to tell, and mainly what I want to happen, but it´s those other things... what, when, where, and who... some say they come by themselves when you start to write, but I have the experience of crashing stories when not planning them properly first. I think maybe a timeline of some kind would be the solution. Do you have that problem too?
