Thanks so much for the favorite and the watch! I really appreciate it.
I think you have pretty good potential as a photographer. What I suggest you do... is read. A lot, about the basics of photography, it will really help. The more you read, it'll be tatooed into your head... and taking good photographs will just be second nature. (: Once you've got the basics down, you can learn different techniques that you can apply them to. I also suggest that you learn how to use manual mode - you have more freedom that way.

This helped, for me. I had a really good guide to the basics once, but I lost it... ;_; I suggest you read Composition 1 and 2, Knowing Light, Understanding Depth of Field, and maybe the Making of a Photograph. You can also take photography classes at your school or community center... I think that could help too. Hope this helped - I myself don't know everything about photography. Far from it than others on dA.

Thank you so much! I'll take a good look at that stuff you suggested and hopefully one day in the not to far off future I'll be a little step closer to being as good as the shadow you cast over us amateurs!

You may be an amateur but you are at the top of the pile! You're way closer to professional than lots of people! I know we're both only 15 but you can way tell the difference between your work and mine! You're work is so polished and it has it's own style. Just because you're young doesn't mean you can't be a professional.

I know! It's so unfair. But we're getting Harry Potter 6 in November and you're not getting it till after Thanks Giving or something. So fair's fair I guess. I anticipate both movies a lot.

You guys are still getting Harry in November? Agh I'm jealous, we actually got HP pushed all the way back till next summer!!!! And the twilight people hopped on the open November month to take advantage of it (which I think is smart) but next summer seems like forever and a day away for Harry *sigh

Well such is life. I can't wait for both films though. January seems way to long to wait. Before I knew when it was coming out here, I was counting down till december but then it got moved to november and I was like 'woohooo!' but then i found out we don't get it till january... that sucks big time...

which clip? I've only seen the two trailers and the clip where Bella is in the ballet room being attacked by James when Edward showed up. Is there another one?

Yeah, it's the extended ballet studio scene. The WHOLE scene. The quality's not great cos it's been recorded illegally but it is sooooo good. Look it up on youtube: EXTENDED BALLET STUDIO SCENE

yeah after seeing that scene, I felt that the movie might really fit the book quite well because it meshed with what I had imagined that scene to look like!

TheButterflyCatcher In reply to novemberstar88 [2008-09-27 13:48:13 +0000 UTC]
I thought it was so well done. Some people are saying it sucks cos bella was unconsious for that bit but I say that there would be no action at all with out it!

novemberstar88 In reply to TheButterflyCatcher [2008-09-27 16:46:58 +0000 UTC]
yeah it's funny, sometimes things read great in book, but when you do the movie, it works much better in a slightly changed way. So I'm of the opinion that the scene works well in the movie, bella needs to see what Edward is like when battling the James, but the scene in the book works well for suspense because an unconscious bella doesn't know what's happening.

Defo! Hey have you read the host. I've nearly finished it and although it's a good book in its own right, I way prefer Twilight. Also there are times when it just gets plain stupid.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
novemberstar88 In reply to TheButterflyCatcher [2008-09-29 17:12:38 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I read the host. It was an interesting experience because I usually don't do alien type stories I stick to fantasy versus sci fi but I felt that Meyer did do something incredibly unique with the host. She incorporated an emotional aspect to the whole situation, plot, and character relationships that hasn't ever (to my limited knowledge) been done to such an effective extent in a typical alien based sci fi. I was fairly impressed with it on that level because it did elicit some emotion from me while reading because I actually felt for the characters and was torn etc. when they were. So yeah, it doesn't beat the Twilight series, but it was an interesting read in its own right.

TheButterflyCatcher In reply to novemberstar88 [2008-09-29 17:23:38 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but the whole description of the aliens was a little... strange and unrealistic. I mean Claw Beasts, walking flowers, seaweeds... this list goes on. The descriptions were really bad and tacky. I liked the bit when Kyle tries to kill her. That was good. Please don't tell me what happens in the end cos I'm nearly there but I'm reading another book at the same time and so am going really S L O W L Y!

novemberstar88 In reply to TheButterflyCatcher [2008-09-30 19:46:06 +0000 UTC]
Well the way I look at it, she took a really vague and poetic approach to the aliens etc, seeing them in ways that wouldn't be the way humans would see them because they were being described from the mind of an alien itself. I think she made an interesting point (whether she intended to on purpose or not) is that the typical and usual conceptions of aliens as slimy, or superior, or bent on human destruction and all this explained matter of factly and scientifically is a biased perception from the sci fi genre. I think that while her descriptions were vague and unrealistic, who's to say she's wrong (not that I'm saying I believe in aliens lol, I'm undecided as to the existence of intelligent life on other planets etc) but I think we can't allow ourselves to be limited by our typical expectations and views. The point of the unknown, is that it is precisely that...unknown. Wow I went off onto a philosophical ramble. I apologize lol. But don't worry i won't tell you what happens!

Yeah, I understand what you're getting at but I just had a feeling while I was reading it like the feeling I got when I read 1984 by George Orwell. I read the first chapter or two then got bored because the whole thing was so unrealistic and far fetched.

ugh. 1984. That brings back unpleasant memories from high school. Unfortunately we had to finish the dang thing...but our class got revenge and made a teeshirt that said we couldn't do our homework because we were taken to room 101 (we were a nerdy class lol)
