Some really nice artwork on here, especially like the Moonsorrow piece for their album artwork. A great album, and a great album cover too.

It's wonderful that some one rembers how the runes are really ment to be used. They seem to be so abused now a days.<3 No one very rembers.

Hiho,
i really appreciate what you'r doing.
i'm very interrested in mystics and religion of the old days, and i see my self on a journey to seek for the lost knowledge of our ancestors generations.
But you should be more cautios of what you'r doing, since Runes are very powerfull symbols, and it's not undangerous to make use of them.
Wodan himself could show up sometime and will want you to pay him for the power you gained by using his runes.
You should read the Book "Rheingold" by Stephen Grundy. This is one of the best books i'Ve ever read. it tells the story of Sigfrid the Dragonslayer and the whole Valsung Saga.
i know that you guys would love it.
Sunshine,
David

Trust me, there's nothing in this that we take lightly. Currently we're making an altar to Ukko, the high God of Finnish mythology and Finnish correspondent to OΓ°inn. And we plan to give him our respects every time we make the stones. We have been sacrificing mead to the gods for a long time, and we've had three visits from a divine force while we've been scratching. None of them have been hostile... more likely a curious.
And afterall. OΓ°inn hung from the tree to get the knowledge of the runes for all mankind to use. We're just keeping up the heritage of the olden days.

that sounds honourous and good.
it's a great feeling to know the old times are not dead, and also it's god's and forces.
I wish i could find some people with thus interrests in my area....
you don't know anyone in Austria/Vienna,do you?

i'm always interested in runes and their uses (particularly Elder Futhark) and Norse Myth as a whole.
I'f i ever achieve my hope of working runes into modern jewelry, i'll send you a picture ^ .^

I'm seriously impressed!
Seeing this has made me want to try something like this myself. I haven't a clue about carving , but it has inspired me to attempt to give it a go at some point in the future

A fine, fine job done by all here. The link to this section of the internet was recommended by *BleedingCountess and I was not let down at all. I've done some rune carving, but only in wood. This looks like a lot of fun, I'll have to try it. Skal!

Hi there... Just dropping by for an opinion...
I've taken time to look around DA and rooted through the Forums and even posted the question on many of them, and have come to the conclusion that either I'm the only historical illustrator on DA (which statistically if nothing else I find hard to believe) or we are just disparate, with no common ground... Especially since we lost the Medieval section in Indy Art...
So I was wondering about how to go about setting up and promoting a Historical Illustration group here at DA...?
You already belong to a group I know, so I was just wondering if you knew how it was done, or thought it was a good idea as you guys obviously qualify as Historical Illustrators too...
I was thinking of calling it Heorot after the Meeting Hall in Beowulf... what do you think?
Anyway, I'll probably drop this message in a couple of other peoples DevCom boxes too... look forward to hearing your opinion...

The idea surely sounds good... and we're glad to join such a group when it's formed... but I don't know how to create one (My guess is just by creating a new DA-account of that name )

Yes, I've been told much the same... I'm going to set it up over the next couple of weeks... we might be a small group to start with, but more will join the ranks as we go I imagine...
You and your craftsmen would be a more than welcome addition to such a group...
I'll keep you informed...

I am very interested in the runescratching technique. Actually i am in the process of finalizing a traditional tattoo. I am done with the text, have it translated in swedish and transcripted to runes, now i just need to fin the correct inspiration
