citrusciley In reply to TheOther-Half [2009-07-25 09:36:45 +0000 UTC]

YEAH!~ just as long as it's Victorian themed I think it's lolita. XD Ok. Which hat is it?XD

TheOther-Half In reply to citrusciley [2009-07-25 17:36:37 +0000 UTC]

the purple and white cheshire's hat. i'm pritty sure it could be considered lolita!!! XP but it might not be lolita lolita. ya see my friend was really into punk lolita, and i used to be into the gothic/victorian/punk lolita. and another friend of mine used to be more intersted light colores/victorian but not, lolita. there's just so many different way's you can put it all together!!! now i've realised that what i was actually into all a long was steampunk...took me acouple years to figure it out. but i got it!

GOOD FOR YOU! I must say that when I first saw your hats, I instantly thought goth/lolita. XD But now that you've explained it better, I kind of understand the distinction. XD
Can you please send me the procedure on how you made the hat? Also the materials! What did you use for the base? How did you even shape it that way?!?!??! (I consider designers geniuses.) I hope to get your answer soon. and please post more pictures of your hats! X3 thanks!

i might be able too. i do have a really crappy tutorial that needs to be fixed cause i did it a while ago and there are somethings wrong with it. however the first part is right.. if i could hook up my web cam i could record the actuall procedure, but i think its busted, and come to think of it, i have know clue as to where it is...however, everything is interfaced, and i use a buckram (i belive thats how you spell it!! ^^) as a bass. and this webing, that fuses two materials together.

its complicated and i have so many other things (like unfinished projects!!) to do, but if your serious i wouldnt mind. that and your sewing skill needs to be fairly good, sorry about all this, i'm on another site as well, just for crafts called cutoutandkeep.net, and i kept getting requests for tutorials, but nobody was actually using them. so i need to know. i hope this helps! let me know, and if there's something you speficically need help with, just ask!! but ya definitly let me know.

YES IT WOULD BE DEFINITELY HELPFUL! My friend and I are coming up with a business, and frankly I'd like to make hats on my own as well.
Why don't you just make the tutorial by pictures? I think that would be easier for you. XD Since your webcam is lost and what not.

It's okay. I understand what you were trying to say. XD

I just need to know what materials you used like for the base of the hats and stuff and how you sew-ed it that way. XD

i've all ready told you what i used as a bass, but i think if your going to start selling hats you need to figure out what works and what doesnt on your own. i wont lie i really really dont have time to redue the totrial, and there are mistakes.

agian if you have *spesific* question then i can anwser one or two. but nothing to general.

hate making is all about trial and error, actually that can be said for about everything. and your sewing skill, *i've all ready said this* but you need to have a high sewing skill, or a very, very good understanding of how material works.

good luck.

the tutorial is on the cut out and keep website.
