I am so lazy, I've been meaning to write a journal about this year's con! This year was interesting lol I was supposed to go Thursday and Friday, but I was overly tired from Thursday, and got sick, so I had sto skip Friday That was totally disappointing because I had never missed a day before, and there was still a lot of stuff I wanted to do. Ugg, and my friends met Zachary Levi on Friday! We all were going to go together, but since I was sick, I missed meeting him! Hopefully he'll be there again next year with Herd HQ But Thursday, my friend and I got a lot done! I bought all the stuff that I wanted in that one day, thankfully, and I met Joey Richter and Brian Rosenthal from Starkid Productions! (have you seen A Very Potter Musical/Sequel?) I'm a big fan and I could not stop smiling for a half hour! I went with my friend who likes Twilight, so she got to meet Taylor Lautner! The only disappointing thing was that I couldn't do everything I wanted. It was her first year, which meant that she didn't know her way around, so I had to go to a lot of things that she wanted to go to. I don't know why that bugged me so much...I guess because she didn't seem thankful :/ But I at least attended a HP fan panel on my own when she went to meet Taylor Lautner. Jason Issacs was the surprise guest And I got recognized a lot, which is always flattering!

Another thing was that we didn't have time to take pictures of our costumes!! I don't have anything to post for this year's con! Well...actually, I have two that I took with a fellow dA member, so I should post those, but besides that, I don't have anything to post :/ I'm hoping to do my own photoshoot before school starts!

I really hope that you can attend next year! You would lovett!!!

That is awesome! I have never gotten interviewed or had my pic professionally taken. I feel like if I looked more like Sweeney I probably would have. bleh

Anyways thats really annoying. If i ever had to miss a day of a con, I would be really pissed. You should have just gone on Saturday or Sunday instead. I would go all 4 days. Im sure by the 4th day I would be really dead.
What items did you buy?
Oj and no, i have never seen a Very Potter Musical, i have been meaning to, but just never got around to it. Thats awesome that you and your friend got a lot done. And Im still jealous that you get to go to SDCC every year! That is one con I NEED to go to before I die. lol Id love to go to that con every year, but I am just so far away from it. Johnny Depp was there last year, I would have loved to meet him (who wouldn't? lol)

Being interviewed by a professional photographer? Hmm...well, it was cool and flattering, but I was nervous! Especially since that was the first professional photographer to ask me for a photo, and you never know who you can trust. He just kind of took a picture of my badge (to get my name) and asked me where I was from, so I guess that made me feel uncomfortable, even though I know they have to do that. But after that we just did a quick photoshoot, and he instructed me different poses. He knew of Sweeney Todd, which was REALLY cool, so he knew what Lovett-type poses could work. But I was so nervous so I didn't really put "my all" into the photoshoot. I even asked phantomiserik to come with me because I didn't want to go alone XD But now I'll know for next time what to expect if I get asked my another professional again ^_^

Don't worry, you'll be asked my a professional! You go to so many cons and your Sweeney is so accurate I'm surprised you haven't yet, because your cosplay is so perfect!

Oh, you must see AVPM! It's so brilliant!! I just love what they do! And they are around our age too!

I'll try my best to get in contact with you! The only thing that worries me is that my dad will find out that I'm contacting you! I hope he doesn't go through phone records or anything, and see that I'm texting someone from New York. My parents would flip if they knew we were planning on meeting up at the con. I've ran into people from dA before, and they're cool with that, but to them, planning to meet up with someone is different That's what's been worrying me all along.

Well yea, next time, dont get too nervous. Only reason you need to worry is if the photographer asks you to go to his hotel room, then it will be sketchy but as long as you stay in the area of the con, I am sure it is a legit photographer

Yea, none of the professionals really ask me to do photos for them, I think it is because I'm asian and don't resemble Sweeney enough. If I looked exactly like Sweeney, then I would probably get more attention since I would be one of the more "perfect" Sweeneys, since I personally feel like I've got the character down pretty well. But yea, havent had many professional photographers asking to do shoots for me.

Alright, I will have to try to find time to watch it. I feel like I dont have time for anything any more now. I have a con coming up and tons of school work to do, and college apps. Yea, those stupid things

Alright. Why does he care? You are in college now, out of the house. They shouldnt care. although, my parents dont like me to contact people online either. I just meet people at cons and arrange it beforehand and then tell my parents that they are just friends I met at the con originally. So now I can have internet friends at my house, if I meet them at the con first.

I think a majority of people do. I honestly sorta judge based on the appearance of a cosplayer. People who look more like Depp, make more convincing cosplayers of his character. I have seen awesome Sweeneys who are just awesome because they look exactly like him, but their costumes are actually really inaccurate

It is, he's too white in that movie. But I will still definitely try to watch it
lol maybe. I'd cosplay from that movie if I actually looked more like the characters. With my cosplays, I have to choose characters that are very distinct and have really distinct features, otherwise I probably won't get recognized (like I could probably never cosplay as Ichabod Crane, since he doesn't really have that much makeup etc)

ahh yeah, that's fine, no problem!! and we ALWAYS have something to talk about, so i think we'll manage ^_^

yeah, the last month i always the busiest, because teachers have to cram the last of the information into their lectures. then, there' all the final projects and exams. i just sumbitted my last psychology paper last night...boy did that feel great! remember the first one we had to do, research a topic on child development, observe children and write a paper on it? we had to do that again, except with older children, and she only gave us about four weeks to do it. i am so relieved it's all over with. my poor friends--both of their computers crashed on them before they were able to submit it online by the deadline. once the clock strikes 10PM, the website closes submissions, so they have to email their essay to our professor now, without an originality report (i told you about this too: the originality report calculates a percentage of what was "plagarized." we have to have a score of 15% or below, or else she takes off points). they were both really pissed off, and i don't blame them!

aww so you are also going through the crunch time part of school as well? good luck!! have any final projects? good luck with everything!

yeah, i can't believe it, i am almost done with my first year! it's exciting and scary, because with every semester coming to a close, i am a step closer to "the real world," and honestly, i am really nervous about having to deal with parts of that...

Oh I love submitting papers and then just being done with them. Its such a relief! Oh yea I remember that paper you told me about, doing it with older children must have been really awkward But 0_o that is horrible for your friends! They must have been insanely pissed. Did they get points off for not handing it in on time? I had a friend whose essay deleted itself when she was almost done with it (the night before it was due as well). She had to stay home from school the next day and re write the whole essay. It was a traumatizing experience for both her and me (as I was the one who had to watch her go through it, she didnt handle it well as you can imagine). It was a large research paper too 0____o

And meh, kinda, not really actually. Last week was really easy, last week before break we didnt do anything

Oh the real world, yea Im not sure I am quite prepared for that either I dont wanna run myself into deep debt or anything like that, that would suck

same here! i immediately feel so much better after printing out an essay and/or submitting it online! it's just such a huge relief! yeah, it was weird dong observations for this essay, because unlike our first essay, we could not do our observations at the campus' day care, which meant that we had to go observe kids...at a park. i felt to creepy "watching" children play! i tried my best to be as casual as possible, but parents still got really suspicious. but, i got what i needed, and i was able to write my paper!

ohh yes, my friends were insanely pissed and frustrated! yeah, we do get points taken off for late work, and i'm sure they'll get points off for not gaining an originality report omg your poor friend! i would have a complete meltdown i think! all that hard work, and then it gets deleted?! was she able to re-write the essay? i'm sure you being there helped her a bit though!

i've heard stories circulating around that someone gets up from their computer while they are in the middle of writing a major essay, and while they are gone, their sibling errases everything, and then clicks the "Save" button! i would kill my sibling if that ever happened to me! i take school really seriously, and i would be pissed beyond belief! i'd probably force them to write to my teacher, and explain exactly what had happened. i guess it's a good thing i'm an only child then XD

i'm glad that last week was easy for you! this week won't be so bad for me, thankfully! the only thing i'm not looking forward to is writing a 6-7 page rough draft for my writing class. that's the only major thing i have to worry about, thankfully!

yeah, i am scared going into the world by myself. for every major event in my life, my parents or friends have been there with me, but i know i have to do things on my own really soon, and it scares me. i am quite shy when it comes to trying new things, and i like to stay in my comfort zone, but i know i can't do that forever. for example, i know i need to get a job and/or intership soon, and even that scares me lol yeah, running into debt is so horrible, and it's really hard to get out of. just as long as we are smart with our money we'll be ok ^_^

oh, i forgot to tell you, but i think i'm going to be lovett again this year at comic-con, AND i'll be updating my costume a bit (finally!). i was talking over the possiblity of rapunzel with my friend who offered to help me with the bodice, and after looking through my collection of rapunzel screenshots, we realized that a four-piece costume would be too much to deal with in terms of construction AND would be torture to wear in the summer (especially with a wig). however, my friend said that a bustle skirt wouldn't be too hard, and she explained exactly how to create one fairly easily. she might even be able to help me construct it! i am realyl excited now, because i have been wanting to find a bustle skirt for my lovett costume ever since i began cosplaying as her, and now i may finally add it to the costume! i still really want to cosplay as rapunzel, but i'll probably put off until i gain more skills with costumes, and possibly until i get a boyfriend, so i can have my own flynn rider lol (i actually closet cosplayed him a couple of weeks ago lol when the movie was released on DVD, one of my best friends and i cosplayed as flynn and rapunzel and watched the movie together lol it just so happened that she had clothing in her closet that resembled rapunzel's dress and i had clothing that resembled flynn's outfit--even if it was really feminine lol that was my first time cosplaying as a guy, and it was actually really fun--especially since he is a really cocky smart-ass XD i had no problem being in character that day (we just excluded all the romantic dialogue from our hangout lol)--i got to prance around, spewing sarcasm everywhere i went! maybe i'll consider cosplaying as a male character sometime in the future for comic-con! i've always considered edward scissorhands, even though that costume would be so uncomfortable!)

I see, ok that sounds like a good plan! Its too bad that your Rapunzel cosplay is so complicated, but I think you are making a good decision since it does seem a bit uncomfortable. haha, can you believe i am still keeping my hopes up to find something for a rapunzel cosplay? XD i know it PROBABLY won't work out, buuuut it's still fun to look around however, i really need to start looking into bustle skirts for lovett...if i am not going to be making a whole new costume this year (meaning rapunzel), then i seriously want to update lovett! making my cosplays is such a fun summer project, and i want to keep up that tradition this year!

haha, i'm going to closet cosplay as flynn again with my friend next weekend (meaning i'm going to wear my bellatrix boots, skinny jeans, kind of victorian top from hot topic, and lady gaga style dark blue vest...ok, that was the worst description ever, but you get the picture). for some weird reason, a local park in town is showing tangled, so we OBVIOUSLY have to dress up. i sure hope they are going to be ok with us bringing frying pans to the showing...hey, it will be at night, we'll need some protection XD ugg god, we are going to be the oldest fans there...a 19 and a 21 year old dressed as two disney characters with frying pans in hand...that's not odd at all lol but actually...i guess it isn't...i have noticed that a lot of college students on dA have submitted photographs of themselves in disney cosplay.

but yes, for comic-con, the male characters i would LOVE to cosplay are edward scissorhands, sweeney and mort rainey. mort would be the easiest cosplay ever...but i probably wouldn't be able to bring a shovel into the convention actually, flynn WOULD be fun to do for comic-con, but i couldn't pull him off, i'm way to feminine and "girly," i suppose you could say to pull off that character. plus...i don't want to wear a goatee...i'd look way too hilarious...i'll just stick to johnny depp characters for convention cosplaying i think! (a person i follow on tumblr though wants to dress as a female version of flynn for halloween...with a cape...oh my god! XD)

Well you could try making the costume from scratch yourself. Just make it your goal to get a good chunk of the costume done, even if it isnt done before Comic Con you can use it for something else and you will have it done for next year. Getting a bustle skirt for Lovett does sound like a great idea though. I just recently (today) bought a lace front wig for Lovett. I do have to admit it is totally the wrong color, but I am going to make Lovett my 'own' character sort of. My wig is black instead of dark red/brown, that is partly because A. I plan on using it for prom next year when I dress all gothic victorian, I will want long hair, but I am not growing my hair out) and B. asians with brown hair look weird. So I am making Lovett more gothic looking I guess since I will do Lovett with black hair. The wigs arent too expensive anyways so I can always buy another one once I get the hang of the whole wig styling thing, so I will probably get a better quality red/brown wig in the future, probably definitely before Connecticon.

Anyways, that sounds awesome! You are very lucky to have a friend who will obsess with you. That sounds like a fun night you guys have planned. Im not sure how the people will react to you guys with the frying pans though, as they can be considered weapons so they may ask you to put them away or something.
I think you should cosplay a male character at a con, that would be cool! Id love to see you play all of those characters. If you do Sweeney I will be your Lovett! I have considered doing a Jack Sparrow cosplay, but the problem with that is those cosplayers are expected to be in character 100% of the time and that is a problem for me, plus there are already so many amazing cosplayers I think I would just fail at being Jack Sparrow. Plus the fake facial hair could be a problem (but I do have an idea as to how that can be solved... i can buy lace hair pieces and use the lace wig glue to attach them to my face). but still...a lot of competition for Jack Sparrow cosplays. Although with the new movie out, I wonder how many Jack Sparrows I will see at the next con. hmmm.
lol I love talking about cosplay with you, I hope when I go to college I will meet someone who likes to cosplay. I could start a cosplay group

Anways, 3am is not by her choice though. She just has to stay up till then to get her work done. And she is really good at traditional drawings. She doesnt do much else. Mostly just 2-D things. Her dA is ~chelsearebelo
