# About me
I am a freelance photographer with my primary interests being travel and culture. I am in process of applying for graduate studies in the field of Visual Anthropology so that I can bring my love of photography and culture together in an even stronger form.I am in my late 20s and currently living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While it is a nice and fairly affordable place to live I have learned through the years that the harsh winters are not for the Texas born babe. I am currently tied down by my steampunk loving computer savvy boyfriend/partner in crime, and my dainty broken eared cat.
My strongest goal in life is to travel the world. In recent years I have been trying to achieve that as much as possible. In 2008 I went on extended weekends to Phoenix, Arizona and New York City. In 2009 I spent a week in Dublin, Ireland. In 2010 I spent three months living in BangSaen Thailand where my father teaches at Burhapa University. During that time we went on a trip to India & Nepal following the footsteps of Buddha. At the end of my trip I took a one week layover in Tokyo before heading back to the states. For 2011 my goal is to do some stateside traveling, Iโd like to hit up either Austin or Seattle as those are two places in the running for a new hom

Thank you! I do like your work as well, especially that which shows the change in the city like your shots of the old Greede Foundry buildings.
In truth though, while all the new condos and entertainment districts are a great boom for the city economically I think we are fast loosing the old blue-collar Milwaukee. Thankfully it's not just staying abandoned ruins like in Detroit or Buffalo, but it is being erased just the same. I'm trying to paint a view through my photography of Milwaukee right now during this transition, in the twilight of heay industry and the dawn of new commerce. The city has a million stories, tell as many as you can.
Cheers

Thank you well the industrial photos are my prefered subject matter, but the band photos are what I have more pressure in the background to refine and upload so most of those shots do get pushed off to the side and get much less work time.
However I am of the belief that Milwaukee loosing the blue collar image is a very good thing. Why should this city stay slaving away in factories while every other major city has progressed into the 21st century's leisurely lifestyle. I see it as Milwaukee moving into enlightenment and finally getting up to speed with all if it's comrades such as Minneapolis and Chicago.

I do agree that the progress is very positive, and needed, however there are a couple of good points to make on it. Firstly, it's a great thing that Milwaukee has the option to move on into becoming the "Boston of the Great Lakes." The only two American cities on the lakes to survive the end of the industrial age with any kind of economy are Milwaukee and Chicago. Gary, Flint, Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, Erie, Buffalo, Rochester, Allentown and Pittsburgh all died in some form or another with the end of the factories. Milwaukee is the great exception to the rule, we made it out, grew and changed, because of it we will stay a major city.
However, with the modernization comes prefabricated uniformity. One of the few problems I have with the growth and change of Milwaukee is the loss of our identity. Milwaukee now is starting to look like just another city, with huge condos that all look the same, sprawling office parks and malls. While it has been good that areas such as the Blatz and Shiltz breweries were saved and transformed, there are parts that are just post-modern messes such as Brewer's Hill and the Fifth Ward.
Finally, there is a respect that must be paid to the past. Through my photography I try to show what little is left, before it's all bulldozed. Generations of people worked and made their living in those factories and their stories are worth telling just as much as the workers of the future will be.
Cheers!

Yeah, I still have that one, but I'm using this one for more of a showcase of my photography whereas the other site has really become more of a place to voice my creative expressions. I'm still going to put drawings and graphic design stuff on the old one, as well as keeping it a place for bloging. But my photography is on a different level than those works so I think it deserves it's own place.
