Really, WT? Keeping the customer waiting for over 4 weeks and not even getting back to me? I'd like to remind you that YOU decided to make this story extra-long, so it is YOUR responsibility to finish it within a reasonable length of time. We're way beyond 'a reasonable length of time' so I suggest you finish it ASAP.

Writing doesn't just happen over night lady.
You're just gonna have to wait.

And so is the customer you agreed to take on, which in turn makes me look bad. You see the problem when you drag your feet to such an extreme degree?

As a business owner myself, this is why I make artists/affiliates write contracts.
Is Wolfen (the writer) getting paid for this piece?

I'll just begin by saying that I thought that was WolfenTales who had responded. Apologies for the sharp answer.

WolfenTales used to be a member of my team of commissionable writers. I was the leader; I have since dissolved the group. And yes indeed, WolfenTales did sign a contract. Everything that was agreed to us, was agreed in writing.

The original commission was for 10,000 words. That's what the customer who approached me had budgeted for. I presented the proporsal to WT who said he had a story idea that would be longer, and I agreed so long as he understood that he would only be paid for the 10,000 words. Anything above that he wanted to write, had to be for free. I said this so that I did not put upon the customer to go over budget, and because I personally didn't want to proof-read more than the 10,000 words agreed to. (I always proof-read commissions before the customer got the commission, as most of my writers, despite numberous requests, did not spell-check their own works).

WT agreed to this, and began to write.

One of the agreements I made with each writer in the group was for them to provide me with 1,000 words per week, or let me know if they were unable to do so. During the course of writing this story, WT got slower and slower, took several days to respond to emails at all (and whether they would actually explain why he was being slow was hit and miss). I stalled as much as I could to buffer the situation with the customer (who had been a returner for some time), and managed expectations with them as best I could, but WT's tardiness surpassed my best efforts.

Thankfully that particular customer is very chill and we continue to have a good working reationship, but eventually, after many, many messages to WT, I was forced to give up trying to get the story from him. Unfortunately, the ending of the story was not easy to foresee, and the only person who knew how the story was meant to end was WT himself - the one person who was refusing to talk to me.

You sound defensive of WT. Be assured that I have been patient with him over the situation, and only got more assertive once it became clear that he had no intention of living up to his end of the deal.

Bear in mind also that, as a writing group with around a dozen writers in it at any one time, the tardiness of one writer made the group as a whole look less reliable - and that had a negative effect on everyone in the group, myself included. Therefore it was very important to get him either to do what was needed to finish the story, or communicate with me about why he wasn't doing it any more so that I could pass the commission on to somebody else (something I've never liked doing because the change in writing style can be very obvious, but at times it was all I could do in the circs).

I hope that helps clarify the issue.

It's been 8 days since your last instalment so your next one is overdue, and I have not received any message from you warning me that you could not deliver it on time. Please send it by the end of the day.

Thank you. I have had another account on here for some time, but figured it was a good time to return to dA and rebrand myself.
