Ah I figured you were near the gulf... all the bird species are similar to what you would find here in Alabama. Your pictures are very good.

Hi Eric!
Thanks for the comment, but it wasn't really THAT amazing. The butterfly was at rest, fluffing it's wings a bit, but pretty limited motion. I chased a few around for "in flight" shots, but those really didn't work out at all.

Hi Eric!
Thanks for the wonderful, kind comment on my Savannah Sparrow. Yes, its a fairly sharp shot, in it's enviroment, but I still thought it a bit plane. I liked it better on the Madrona tree, but damn, not nearly as sharp.

Hey Eric!
I hope I didn't offend. Bird IDing can be really hard and I'm no expert by any means, esp. in areas that I don't live. Bitterns are REALLY cool, but often very shy, but so are most herons.... Take care!

Hi Eric!
Hey!!! Looks like that macro lens is going to have to wait another few months, expenses - hard to stop, things break, etc. Darn!!! Thanks for the great comment on my Red Dragonfly!

Hi Eric!
Hey, that gull shot was just too cool. Loved the eyes swivelled all the way forward, very intense look. And to have gotten anything of that fly(bug)...totally amazing! I've tried including bugs in shots...not easy by a long shot!!!
Thanks for the great comment on Minnows For Lunch. Feeding time shots are MY MOST TREASURED. Luck and patience play big roles. I got a Kingfisher with a fish at that same waterway, the fish melds into the bg too much, but you can clearly make out it's eye that's inside the bird's mouth.
My gallery is clearly bloated.

Hi Eric!
Thanks for the great comment on my Water Iris shot. Items of "distraction" seem to be largely a "taste" thing. I find myself say yes to one piece and no to another, I think there's also an "in context" quality, too. The light was very dim, it's always cloudy here (right?), so I was pleased that even one droplet had a bit of shine to it. I dunno, maybe I should have tried the flash? Anyways, thanks again for the comment, I appreciated it!

Hi Eric!
Thanks for the great comment on my Evening Grosbeak shot. They hide so very much, difficult to find a clear shot, then again....I like that sort of hidden view thing, it's a trickier shot, shows them the way the really are, etc. etc. etc.

You're not old, the original Mona Lisa, now THAT's old! Funny, I can't think of the song you referenced. I'm getting old, senile, etc. Thanks for the comments!

Hi Eric!
Yesterday, I was having a nice chat with this older gentleman and up comes this Red-Wing barking at our feet, begging for food! (Get a JOB!!!) I guess in a way, he did, I got several really nice shots of him. I'll edit and post one soon. Funny to look down at a Red-Wing. Silly bird!

Hi Eric!
Thanks for the wonderful comments on my Red-Wing. Yes, they do seem to know when focal lock has been gotten and fly away. Patience, perserverance and a long, long lens help. As for the background color? I hit the color saturation VERY hard (I try to stay in a more natural color range), but I enjoyed the over-saturation version so much, I submitted it.
Most of all - Have fun with it!
(Oh, that "advanced" remark, sometimes my humor is a bit odd, you're doing fine, keep up the great work!)

about 'advanced'...
I really meant it! I've seen my work go from amateur to 'beginning student'...and sometimes I think I submit an advanced piece...it's good to know when others think so too...helps me refine my style and hone my technique!
