# About me
My name's Carlye and I'm a soldier in the Salvation Army, and I move around a lot. In the past 2 years I've lived in Nanaimo BC, Gibsons BC, Vancouver BC, and Saskatoon SK. I've been a photoprapher for a couple years now, and recently became more serious about it. I love taking pictures of the sky (sunsets, sunrises etc) just because it has the ability to be so many different colours. Simply beautiful. I enjoy the simple things in life... playing guitar, reading, singing... and there's nothing I love more than the ocean. The ocean is hands down my favorite of all God's creation...Current Residence: Vancouver, British Columbia

Up until a few months back, I have only ever owned my own Sony T2 (that was when I started taking pictures). Curious thing is, I'm not too keen on taking pictures of people. A few solitary ones maybe (unawares)... or maybe self-portraits, but its difficult for me to take pictures of people (sigh).
I get really excited when I meet people on dA! that have so much in common with me - especially when they're like on the other side of the world.

haha awesome! where are you at? I used to live in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver BC, and there's a lot of homelessness and open drug use... (I was in a program called "The War College" look it up!) and photographers go down there all the time and assume it's o.k to take their picture... Kinda makes my job harder, but I take pictures of the people I know. I'm excited to go back there soon...

Well, at the moment, I live in Hong Kong (that's a special administrative region of China) with my family. I'm working as an English teacher while helping my dad and mum pastoring a small church here.

Well, we live in Hong Kong. The situation here is much better than the situation in the Mainland China. We are still part of China but we're operating under the one country, two systems idea. People have the freedom of worship and association here whereas in the Mainland, they are rather strict with regard to religious freedom and activities.
We are currently forging stronger ties with the missionary work in the mainland - underground churches and bible schools and they're doing great. By God's grace.
The church we're currently pastoring is nearing its 5th year. This is the second church we've pastored here over a period of 10 years ^_^. Because we're Filipinos, we've taken to growing a filipino congregation here which is why things are a bit difficult - since people can only come and 'attend' church once a week - maybe 4 times a month.
But still, we've begun to see real great things happening.
The Lord oversees the work and we're just honoured to be a part of it here.

Wow, that's amazing. I just finished a year doing ministry in Vancouver's downtown eastside. I really love it and I'm going back in about a month and a half to be a part of the community again. It's amazing down there.

I've never been to Canada but a lot of people from Hong Kong tend to migrate to Canada for some reason.
