MARCH2016The last time I updated was JUNE2014. A lot has happened. Some things HAVE changed. But most... well... not too sure.
But I feel a new wave of interest in all things artistic. So I'm venturing back into this. It'll take me a while to get stuff up but I miss this platform and the community here.

hi, am feeling a little low right now as my wife, michele, has just suffered multiple stokes and is in a coma. what keeps us sane is all the prayers that she is receiving.

hahah... its nice to see that i am being missed. I've just been swamped by work I'm afraid... y'know how it is. I'm still trying to gain back my bearings - this is only my 2nd week of teaching... feeling kind of week.
Why is it that life gets in the way of art... they seem to be inversely related =_=

Thank you so much for remembering me. Well, for noticing that I was gone.
I've been gone for a long time before I actually left. I felt like the artist in me somehow got eclipsed by everything else. Like melancholy has somehow taken over the entirety of my existence.
I can't say that I'm "all the way" back. But I'm fighting.

As an artist, you can use that melancholy in a creative fashion; take melancholy pictures! Art is the best therapy for dark moods... Keep fighting!

I had initially thought the same. After all, art needs strong emotions - evocative emotions as fuel. However, this was not the inspiring kind of melancholy. Instead, it was the slow-killing, debilitating, heart-to-turn-stone kind of melancholy -- it all but took over my whole existence.
(sigh) I really should have watched out for it. I underwent a dark period when I was 19-23. With support, accountability and healthier life choices I did manage to stay out of the dark for a couple of years. Photography was one of the things that helped me back then.
I wouldn't say that I have gone all the way back to square one. But, if I don't start doing something about it, I will end up going back.
Its funny because whereas art is often used by people as a way of escape - I like to think of it as a way for me to see/to remember what is TRUE.
Have you watched Inception? When you escape for too often, too long - that dream world BECOMES your existence. In the end, what is the use of running after rabbits just to see where the rabbit hole ends.
The truth is, it never ends. Because you were never going anywhere to begin with.

We're definitely moving towards autumn-winter (its a little slow this year). Its getting chilly and I've busted out some of my jackets (although stupid offices in HK are just too cold throughout the year so I always have to wear jackets).
