...a 428 in a '58 ford...WOW! That ought to be one "kick-in-da-pants" ride when finished! I had a 429cj in my '70 Torino...man was that a ride! I apologize for NOT knowing that you drew all these cool ideas! (I should've known, but I'm new here) I have drooled for years over the printing of those fantastic "concept drawings" from the 60's and early 70's! Stanford and the likes are (were) way ahead of their times! I wanted to design cars for a living when I was growing up...but school wasn't so great to me, I didn't get accepted into Columbus college of art and design, not because of my drawings, but my grades. oh well...I do it for fun now!

Yes, today's cars are pretty generic, I agree. I attended the Los
Angeles Art Center School of Design in the 1950's (now the Pasadena School of Design), for car design. I attended for 23 years and then dropped out because I didn't have as good an ability to design them as many others in my class. So, technically, I failed, but the training did prepare me for a life in art in the printing industry. NOW, for the 428 in the '58 Ford, YES, it is a major kick in the butt when the throttle is nailed. That 428 used to be in the blue '70 Ford F-100, but when I damaged the 390 that was in the '58 Ford, I put the CJ in. The 390 was professionally built by a race engine builder. Bored .60 over, it was 422 cu. in. with aluminum heads and intake and a 770 cfm carb, 3:50 rear gears and turned 13.38 seconds at a dragstrip in Phoenix, Arizona. The CJ feels much faster, but no nearby dragstrip and I am living at 6700 foot altitude.

thank you again...I have an Australian friend, here in my area, that installed my 428 Cobra Jet engine in 1958 Ford, two years ago. He also restores vintage vehicles. Great body man.
