It was night time and was pouring rain. Loud fighting noises came from a nearby alleyway and screams of pain. Two Ghouls were fighting, one in black robes and one in a teal hoodie, both with there kagune’s out. The one in the black robes seemed to be having a really bad time as one of his arms was almost ripped off. The one in the real hoodie, who seemed to be wearing a simple lions mask, swayed his scorpion tail like Kagune menacingly. The one in the teal hoodie growled animalisticly and charged the one in the black robes. The injured ghoul tried to run but his peruser grabbed him by the hair and slammed his face into the wet concrete. He pulled his foe’s head back up and began to repeatedly slam his face into the concrete.

The one-eyed Ghoul had just finished with closing up the shop. It has been another successful day, and he was feeling really good about his progress with new job at Anteiku. Kaneki grinned softly to himself as he thought about getting home and relaxing with a nice book and cup of coffee before bed. He was still trying to adjust to his new life, and there always seemed to be a challenge wherever he turned.
He flinched upon coming across the alleyway only to find a couple of ghouls fighting each other? Was this a territory hung maybe, Kaneki had thought to himself. Either way he was unfortunately involved. “Uh! I - Uh! I’m sorry! I didn’t know this was - !!” The black haired male was stumbling over his words. Although he had no business here, he couldn’t help but wonder why this was happening. Why him? Why did he always get the short end of the stick and get caught up in trouble? Kaneki was aware that he most likely wouldn’t get out of this without confrontation. On top of that he couldn’t stand watching someone get beaten down to a bloody pulp. His body reacted faster than his mind in that moment.
”Hey stop! Why are you doing that to him?!” The half-ghoul interviewed by recklessly running towards the attacker.

The attacker stopped slamming his victims face into the pavement and looked up at Kaneki with confusion. He let go of his victim who seeemed to be lifeless at the moment and stood up straight. His Kagune launched itself at Kaneki and pinned him to the concrete by his shirt. The masked Ghoul began to walk towards Kaneki, looking a little mad.

Everything happened so fast in that moment, and with little time no time to react, Kaneki found himself weighted down by the ghoul’s kagune. A small yelp escaped him and he began to try clawing his way free. The half-ghoul had yet to gain the ability to summon his own kagune. “Please, you don’t have to do this!” He pleaded, fear clinging to his tone. Feeling helpless, he wasn’t sure what to do in that moment. A part of him desperately wanted to act and end this,but the other part of him lacked any belief in his ability held him back. His dark eyes glanced over to the wounded ghoul, not knowing if they were even alive or would be able to survive their injuries. He had to something, anything! Reality seemed to slow and he felt something within him beginning to break through. His body re before his mind and within seconds he broke free of the others grip. Now, he stood kagune out and adrenaline coursing through his being. Kaneki then forced the attacker backwards with his rinkaku.
With the short amount of time he had, Kaneki quickly checked to see if the inhured Ghoul was still alive. “Hey, are you able to stand? We gotta get out of here quick!” He knelt down and began to pull their arm over his shoulder.

The ghoul that Kaneki was helping groaned softly, his face unrecognizable. The attacker seemed surprised as he was shoved back, and he was almost knocked off his feet. He seemed angrier and bent forward a little. Something ruptured from his back, they looked like wings but moved like fire, they were gray and purple vein-like marks pulsed through them, like his tail. He prepared to charge, his wing-like kagune moving forward and he yelled,” HE’S MINE!!” As he began to run, his kagune pushed back making a loud “WOOSH” sound, giving him a speed boost, in seconds he grabbed the injured ghoul out of Kaneki’s grip.

With no time to react, Kaneki ha s barely even had time to proces that the attacker sprung to rip the injured Ghoul from his grasp. The attacker was just too fast and by the time Kaneki got to his feet, they seemed to be at far greater distance. There a helpless and confused Kaneki stood with wide eyes. Who was that guy? What did he want with that other ghoul? Why couldn’t he just be stronger to be able to help people? His fists tightened and his shoulders shook with how pathetic he felt. Maybe it was too late, maybe he wouldn’t be able to help after all. No, he couldn’t think that way, it wouldn’t fix anything. Besides doing something is better than doing nothing. A calming Brest escaped his thin lips as he decided to pursue once more. Why was he so desperate to save a stranger? He didn’t really know, but all he knew was that he wanted to help in any way he possible could.
His body rushed forward with a speed that was only provided by his new ghoul abilities. Somehow, he actually was able to catch up but only to find a dead end with a group of CCG members blocking his and the attackers way. “Oh no..” Kaneki’s wide eyes quickly observed the scene. It was possible that he could take advantage of this opportunity to try and take back the injured ghoul and leave the attacker with CCG, but it was a risk that end all three of them. He had to wait for the right moment.

The attacker stopped to survey the situation and rolled his eyes, sighing in annoyance. He said to Kaneki, dropping the injured Ghoul,” you want to live?”

He didn’t expect the attacker to give in so easily, but something seemed off. Kaneki’s Browns furrowed slightly upon the question. “What do you mean? Why are you attacking that poor guy, can’t you see he’s barely hanging on?”

The masked Ghoul nuged the half dead ghoul with his foot and said,” I’m TRYING to kill him. One less Aogiri Tree trash in this city.” The Ghoul on the ground managed to choke out a soft,”f....uck......you.....” The masked Ghoul growled and curled his kagune and stabbed the ghoul in the back, making a wet crack.
