There she stood, a ways in front of you. Her eyes glued to the ground, she refused to look up, but the fact that she was standing there without motion meant she acknowledged your existence. A very feint pink aura surrounded her, and a look of blank worry was on her face. With a book clutched in her hands, she waited. Waited for your next action, whether it be you trying to kill her, or trying to befriend her. You can choose to ignore her, however, that would make you no better than the rest of society, as you too have denied her and shunned her like the rest of them.

( / i. Al that the skeletal monster could do was stare with a seemingly hollow yet softened grin upon his face. His hands were stuffed in the pockets of his thick azure jacket as the lone skeleton collectively sighed. He felt some sort of magic emitting from the girl, which made him curious and wary though h didn't want to push it. Humans did use magic to trap the Monsters down in the Underground, after all- that was how the Barrier was formed. But she seemed different than all the other humans he's seen. Her aura was something to be looked at with care. She seemed emotionless and delicate like the hollow drum of something that once was- lifeless like he was. )

//Anita furrowed her eyebrows in what seemed like...confusion? Curiosity? It was hard to tell. This...skeleton was quite an odd thing to come across. 'thing', no no, she meant 'person', it was sentient after all. Had she seen something like this before ? Perhaps. She was reminded of the infamous 'Lord Raptor' that she had encountered many times before. Not exactly a skeleton, but a zombie so dry he might as well be one. Though, despite being a little on the unsettling side, the other seemed nice. She had many questions, like was he born like that or...a possessed skeleton? This of course, did not stop her from keeping her defenses up, just in case. It was not at all often that someone was outright kind to her...let alone trying to joke with her?
"...I...d-don't get...it...?"
//glancing down at the book in her arms, she noted how the author wasn't R. Kipling-- so it took her a moment to even get the joke. But when she did get it, she didn't exactly....laugh. However there may or may not had been a hint of amusement on her face. Like...she kind of wanted to laugh but just wasn't capable.

Larsa did not recognize this girl...that much could be for certain. And though Archades is very large with a fairly large population, the fashion sense of her citizens made it easy to distinguish a visitor in their midst.
Not one to let his station manipulate his feelings towards others, he dares to approach her. Though, he does feel a strange aura emanating from her...perhaps she is a mage? They always seem to carry some mystical air about them, one that Larsa himself carries to some degree.
"Excuse me... it's come to my attention that we've a visitor. I take it that you are said visitor." He carries with him a polite smile, quick to be as hospitable as he can. First impressions are important around here, "I hope you find your stay to be a pleasant one."

"....!"
Anita had not been expecting such a warm welcome. She must have came fairly far, if it meant they did not know of her enough to know she was naturally a potential threat. A look of slight surprise graced her face as her gaze rose to meet the boy's. After a while of hesitation and reluctance, her feint and soft spoken voice could barely be heard.
"Thank..You.."
The psychic felt a tad more at ease knowing that she had a bit of a chance to start over here; her only problem was she didnt at all know her way around, and she was far to shy to ask for help or directions from the other. Her blue orbs spoke for her, hinting that she wanted to say something as her usual worried look stayed on her face, but she stayed quiet, silenced by her own anxiety.
It was a bit easy to tell she was wary; as the aura around her seemed to get a bit more...wavy. She was being subconciously defensive. Though, he seemed nice enough, maybe she could trust him, at least for now. With that as her final thought, she pulled her book to her chest and held it close, hoping the other would get the message.

Larsa looked her over for a few moments, certainly feeling that aura strengthening. He gave a curious tilt of his head, his eyes glinting, not with fear, but with intrigue. His inquisitive nature was one of his defining traits after all, "I...understand that one's first visit to Archades can be overwhelming..." He gives a slight nod of his head, "If you'd like, I could guide you."
The young Emperor goes quiet for a moment before speaking up once more, "You may call me Larsa. What is it that I may call you?" For now, he knowingly leaves out the part about him being the Emperor of these lands. In order to keep things as easy on her as possible.

The offer of guidance came quicker than she had figured it would--another nice surprise. She gave a quick nod, her expression changing from worried to more of a...blank one. Which was a good thing, even if it didn't seem like it at first. So, this boy, his name was Larsa, was it? It was certainly a name she was going to remember for a while. It had been quite some time since she had met such a kind person. She could tell, just by his presence, that he had a pure heart. Though, she refused to use her abilities to attempt to get more information out of him; she needed to teach herself to trust people a bit easier. It would take her some time, but she was going to try her best.
"...Anita...j-just Anita..."
She spoke again, her voice still as quiet as a soft wind. As long as her name was not recognized, she would be good to go. This was a good opportunity to rid herself of her plagued thoughts for a while, and get a sense of the good things in life. But of course, others always came first. She didn't want to come off as rude to her new guide.
"I-It...is a pleasure t-to meet you...L-Larsa.."

"The pleasure is mine, Anita." His smile widens slightly, before thinking about where he'd want to take her first...Archades had many key locations that new visitors should be made aware of. And that's not including the various shops dotting the towering fortress of a city. Archades was built much like a sprawling castle - minus the walls of course. And upon looking around, it's clear what one must use to access its various levels,
He reaches into a pouch strapped to his hip and pulls out...what appears to be a smooth rectangular slab of wood. It is...rather soft to the touch and has intricate patterns engraved into it - it also has what appears to be a string of sturdy leather strung through. Stepping toward her, he offers it, "Here...it may appear like a simple piece of wood, but in the event that I am not here to escort you, you can show it to the taxi drivers and they will take you further upward - or downward. It is sandalwood..which should give you access to almost all the levels. Save for the Emperor's palace of course." He gives a slightly playful smile at that, but makes no more mention of it,
"For now though, just keep it with you. Since I am here, you won't need to use it."
//Here's what the 'taxis' look like They're tiny airships and they're adorable as all get out//

Anita did not realize that this town was much bigger than the somewhat small town she expected it to be. She did believe it would be a place that one could easily walk around to get places--though if a taxi was needed to get around, then surely this place was much more extravagant than she imagined. She admittedly was excited to get a better look around the place, most definitely the scenery that was already quite pleasing on its own. Without much hesitance, the girl took the wooden slab from the male's hands and let curiousity envelop her. It was very nicely crafted for something seemingly simple. The people of the town must really put a lot of care into everything they create. It was of course, admireable to her. If this was for her to keep, she would most definitely treasure it as more than a ticket around town.
Realizing she had lost herself for a bit staring at the slate, the psychic nodded slowly, then placed it carefully behind the book she held so close to herself. She made a mental note to make sure she did not lose it. She would quite likely need use of it later.
"Y-yes sir..Thank you.."
She nodded in both understanding and acknowledgement. Finally, she felt able to fully calm down, and her psychic aura had nearly vanished completely. There was no need for it right now; she sensed no danger. Not here or nearby. She put her full faith into her new tour guide, and oddly so easily she did, as something about him seemed to naturally put her at ease.
There was...One thing though, that stuck with her. The mention of this 'emperor' earlier. The last emeror she met was rather controling and minipulative. The mention of it made her uneasy, so she pushed pass those thoughts and looked ahead. But she couldnt help her subsiding curiousity.

Imagine her surprise when she finds out that her 'tour guide' just so happens to be the very Emperor that has unknowingly made her uncomfortable. Larsa does intend to tell her, but he wants her to feel more at ease with him first. His father - the former Emperor - had many enemies. Even those within his own family. And now...due to various circumstances, Larsa has had the role forced onto him. It... isn't a role he's taken to with open arms, and he certainly does not want someone to fear him for it. He simply wishes to be treated like a normal person, after all.
The boy nodded before offering her his hand, "Shall we proceed?" He glances down at his hand, "It is best that we remain close. I...know where I want to take you, but it may get a bit crowded on the way there. Getting lost here wouldn't be a pleasant experience... considering some of the nobles are a fair bit less friendly than others."

Surprised she would be, as she wouldnt at all expect someone so selfless to be an emperor. Though, in a way, she was the same. She hadn't chosen to become a so called Ruler of humanity, nor had she chosen the life of a psychic. She would give anything to be a normal person, let alone to be treated like one. Even so, she had gotten used to it by this point, even if it did make her fairly stone cold. It was interesting, how somewhat similar the two were.
Anita listened carefully to Larsa and gave a nod in understanding. She wasnt too surprised the place would be crowded; for a nice area, it was guaranteed to house many people. And soon herself, maybe. Quite shyly, Anita placed her hand in his as instructed to do. She did not trust herself with this sort of contact, nor was she used to it, so it was only natural for her to be nervous about something so small. Again, full trust. She wasnt backing down now.
Her gaze returned to the boy in front of her, and while she wanted to smile in a polite manner, she had forgotten how to, so instead she had more of an expectant expression, with no words spoken.

He nodded before guiding her along toward one of the airship platforms, "I... forgive me if I pry. But...how did you get here? There's really only two ways to get into Archades, and one is a method even the most perilous adventurer would think twice about using. The other would be by airship...which isn't exactly cheap."
Of course, this dangerous path he speaks of is a cave palace buried deep beneath the city that plays host to all manner of terrifying creatures. His former traveling companions could attest to this...and though he does not doubt this girl's abilities, there are things that magic alone cannot overcome.
Unless she used the teleportation crystal...but she'd never been here before today. Not only would she have had to have visited this crystal before in order to use it, but she would need a teleport stone to make it work. Now that he thought on it, Larsa could not tell from where she came. Her... appearance and attire are not anything he'd ever seen before, and as an Emperor, he was quite well travelled.
//Luckily for you, they're all standalone games...with a few exceptions. Though...you might wanna consider watching a FFXII playthrough instead. "....?"
She had opened her mouth to answer, but then she realized that she didnt really know the answer to that herself. She had just...Sort of stumbled upon this place during her travels. The girl told herself not to stop until she reached a town, and there she was. Her memory was a bit hazy though, as she didnt really remember anywhere between her leaving her hometown and stumbling upon here. If she tried to, she drew a blank. Maybe she had teleported, though her teleportation didnt work if she did not know a set location.
However, she didnt encounter any offsetting creatures on the way at all. Unless they had been afraid of her, but she doubted, as she did not appear scary other than her aura. She was a generally calm and quiet person otherwise. She also hadnt taken any form of transportation, it wasnt that she didnt have the money, its just she did not prefer interacting with others, and figured she would not have been welcome to board. So it was a good question. Though it was odd that she didnt remember.
"N-not sure..."
She averted her gaze with that statement, looking elsewhere as a slightly embarrassed blush crossed her face. How did she not even know how she got here? That was concerning on a few levels. For a psychic, her memory should be much beyter than it is.

"Hmm..." It was no surprise that Larsa was a bit concerned himself. Though, he chose not to voice it just yet. Strange things happening in the world that is Ivalice is nothing particularly surprising. But, this was something else, "You've no memory of it..." He had an...idea of what might have happened, seeing as her arrival doesn't seem to be purely by accident, though in her eyes it may well be. If a third power had a hand in this...
"We can speak more on it when we get to our destination. Look - the airship bay is in sight already." Looking ahead, one can see the yellow taxi cab. Looking at the man standing beside it, Larsa gives a nod, "I am heading to Archades Central."
The man, dressed in formal clothing, nodded, "As you wish, young lord. And you are...?" He looks at Anita, but Larsa speaks for her, "She is a guest, and I offered to be her guide."

Confusion showed clearly on Anita's face as Larsa passed the subject matter. Though, she felt if he had an idea of what happened, she would like to know--whether it was unlikely or not. The girl only hoped it was nothing drastic, instead something simple like she took the wrong path. However, maybe it had been better for her not to know; she was one to get easily paranoid, after all. She decided not to dwell too much on it, as some things were better left a mystery, and followed the boy without saying a word.
Immediate shyness seemed to overcome Anita when approaching the new face--her defenses had put themselves up again. Though, it was nothing to be afraid of; just another friendly town resident. When asked her name, however, Anita quite nervously opened her mouth to speak, only have the words taken out of her mouth for her by Larsa. And goodness was she thankful for that. She did not like talking very much to others. Giving a small sigh of relief, she quickly decided to distract herself with nearby scenery instead, thinking of how pretty it wa--wait. Did the man just refer to Larsa as 'young lord'..?
(Awesome, thank you! I should be able to get a few new games soon, so I'll pick up one of these as well. And I will once I've got enough time! I'm in a bit of a tough spot right now but surely in the next few days I'll be able to check it out~)

Larsa had caught the formality as well, and partially hoped that it would come off as just another Archadian thing. After all, the people here loved being formal with each other. He watched as the hatch in the side of the small ship opened, and the inside was more spacious than the vessel may have appeared to be on the outside. Nicely stitched seating and natural lighting coming in from the elongated dome on top. A small ramp extends outward from the entry, allowing for them both to walk in with little effort,
"Come, you will learn more soon enough. The...things I wish to speak to you about...well, it isn't a conversation for walking about." In a way, he hopes that she figures out what he means - to take her somewhere with fewer eyes prying over them. Save for a few guards, but they were to be expected regardless.

At first, Anita didnt think too much of it--but after thinking on it for a bit, it was a bit strange. Was thay considered normal here? Being refered to as royalty? Perhaps. But she kept her questions to herself and didnt ask.
Upon entering the ship, the girl's blue eyes couldnt help but look around in awe. The atmosphere was quite relaxing, and it was a bit more open than it appeared on the outside. Back where she came from, nothing was really this well kept, especially transportation wise. It was something small to be impressed by, but she was. So much so that she almost missed the other's comment. But she didnt--and she understood well. This was not something she was new to. She gave a nod, but quite unsure of herself, her eyes slowly moved to the ground before she spoke.
"...D-dont feel...obligated..I-I...Dont need to know...i-if you dont...W-want me to.."
It was quite the string of words, which was rather rare from Anita.

"It is not that, Anita. If this is what I fear...you should know as well." He fell silent as the ship carried them upward. It would be a bit before they reached their destination...this may be a good time to let her know, "But first...there is one thing I need to tell you. In the hope that it won't change the way you treat me now..."
He looked right at her, though his features remained soft...gentle, "The Emperor I spoke of...he sits before you now." He keeps his voice warm, hoping that the realization doesn't lead her to somehow fear him. He fell silent afterward, slightly pulling at the fabric of his gloves, "I apologize for not telling you sooner...my family doesn't have the best reputation, even among our own people. But...I can assure you that I am not them." Larsa's tone carries not resentment toward his family...his brothers, his mother or his father...no, it carries sadness. Especially when one realizes that the only reason he is Emperor at all is because he is all that remains of House Solidor. Everyone else was taken from him through treachery and murder. It's clear that this weight on his shoulders is heavier than he lets on most of the time.

"...."
Anita's eyebrows raised, implying that she was more shocked than she came off to be. He was the Emperor of this land? But, he seemed too young to be an Heir, surely that would be a lot of stress on him at such an age. Though, she wasn't really one to talk. But, that wasn't really what surprised her the most here--what surprised her was how...nice he was. It wasn't everyday you hear of rulers who were kind or caring and looked after their people for selfless reasons. Albeit, she had only legends to compare him to, as she had only met one other Emperor in her life, and she knew nothing of his family to know what they were like. Even so, she understood full well why he was reluctant to tell her; It would be a lie to say that she wasn't in a similar situation herself. What she didn't really get was why he sounded so...upset about it. Sure, being a ruler definitely wasn't fun and games, but...she had a feeling that wasn't the reason here. No, that tone was...something that she had given off many times before.
The psychic felt she needed to reassure Larsa now, but she wasn't good with words (minus the occasion small talk) and didn't want to say the wrong thing. There was one thing she could say for sure, though.
"..I-I'll treat you...t-the same...p-promise.."
In all honesty, she didn't see him as any different; she had just got here after all, for all she knew, this could have been a totally normal thing. Honestly, as long as he didn't treat her any different, she would do the same for him. She probably understood him better than most anyways, whether she was aware of it or not.

Larsa light a slight smile tug at the corner of his mouth, "Thank you. And... regardless of where I stand here, we are equals nonetheless. I would have it no other way." He turned his gaze upward to look through the clear glass dome of craft, "I do what I can. The wounds left behind by those before me are not easily healed but...it does not mean they can't be remedied."
House Solidor - it's one big dysfunctional family, and now consists only of Larsa. He gave a slight chuckle, "It...was not a role I asked for. But, I suppose at this point, one can only make the best of it." For whatever reason, he felt like he could confide in her- somewhat. Of course, many questions circled his mind about where she'd come from...and what forces that be decided she needed to be taken from her home and brought here.
But, the slowing of the airship snapped him out of his thoughts, and eventually they came to a complete stop, "We are here..." As he spoke, the hatch opened to a new street - beautifully crafted and decorated much like those before it, "...come. There is something I would like to show you." He stood up and offered his hand once more, ready to help her step back onto solid ground.

Equals...Anita would remember that. For that was the first time in ten years that she had heard such a thing directed towards her. 'equals'. It had been so losely used in her favor. It felt strange that way. But a good strange.
Carefully listening to her tour guide's words, the girl nodded occassionally, to show her understanding. In her eyes, even if they had just met, Anita thought he was a pretty good emperor as he was. It seemed like the other townspeople would agree as well. She could sense it, in a way. There didnt seem to be any discord between him and his people--then again, she hadnt been here long. But she doubted it was anything like that.
However, She was glad that he was so open to her; having someone be able to share something so personal with her felt nicer than she thought. She felt..Trusted. Much more trusted than she ever did in the past. He didnt treat her like she was a witch, or a burden, or a threat. Just...Normally. But, she couldnt get too comfortable. She couldnt open her heart to him...not yet, at least. Not this soon.
In the time of her thinking, her eyes had stayed glued to the floor beneath her, until she realized their travel had come to an end. Quickly looking up, she noticed the familiar hand being held out to her. With a nod, she placed her hand back in his and stood, ready to see more and allowing him to lead the way.

Just be thankful she didn't find herself in the slums beneath the main city. Larsa...is trying to improve the situation, but unfortunately, the resentment towards his family - and by extension, him - is a bit stronger there. They are more tolerant of him, sure, but he can tell that it will take a long time to earn their trust.
After helping her out of the small vessel, he proceeds to guide her down this new lane, and he remains quiet for the most part. Looking around for a moment, he glances back at her, "I will see about finding a room for you. I'm fairly certain the palace can accommodate a guest..." Plus, with the only folks inside being judges and imperial guards, it's fairly quiet unless there's a fete going on. Easy to get lost in too, but most palaces are...and Larsa would be sure to show her around.

At the moment that Larsa was quiet, Anita slightly wondered if there was a reason for his momentary silence. She didn't mind, of course, but she was one to easily worry over little things. She tended to notice small tics of others, and sometimes her curiosity got the better. Before her mind could wander further though, his voice snapped her out of her thoughts quickly.
"A...palace..?"
"...p-pricey.."
Ah, right, a place to stay for the night. She hadn't thought about it. She had simply planned to stay awake and wander during the evening--she hadn't thought about the clear need for a hotel room of sorts. But...a palace? That...was more extravagant than she was thinking. Somewhere so big and expensive to stay in, was she even worthy of setting foot in such a place? And how was she going to pay for stay? She wasn't sure her currency was even valid here. With mixed feelings, she gave a nervous nod, simply agreeing to let Larsa take the wheel here. He knew the place best after all--and she felt no reason to complain.

"You are a guest...there's no need to pay." Larsa was offering, after all. Though, he wondered if perhaps she didn't want to stay in the palace, "You would be safer there, I can assure you. I wish I could tell you that all my people are loyal to me and are supportive of what I stand for. But, if I did, I would be lying. And I would also be lying if I told you that gap in your memory didn't concern me in the least."
They approach a quieter portion of the avenue, "There are beings....creatures known as Occuria. Known as the Undying by some, and simply as gods by those who do not know their true nature. Though they generally keep out of sight and rarely appear physically in our plain of existence, it does not stop them from trying to interfere with the affairs of mankind." He comes to a stop and turns to face her, "And I would not put it past them to rend someone from her home and wipe her memory of it. An unknowing puppet is just as useful to them as one who is willing."
Perhaps...the Occuria have been trying to destroy Archadia for centuries. The very existence of such a prosperous and growing nation was an affront to them and their authority. They have played through the actions of their mortal pets before - have leveled entire kingdoms through the actions of their mortal pets, "I lost my brother to an Occuria....Venat. She directly opposed the others of her kind, but it was her poison that drove him to thirst for power...to so easily cast aside his loved ones for the sake of waging war. He...is gone now, and it was my blade that played a part in it. If I could have a chance, again, to protect someone from their scheming, I would most certainly take it - no matter the price." The resolve in his voice is strong here, and it's clear that he holds a fair bit of resentment towards these beings.
//In case you're wondering . They look badass, but they're hella creepy...and have done some hella messed up things. Oh, and Venat is pronounced 'Ven-ah' silent T//

No need to pay? Not one cent? That was awfully generous, after all she was just a stranger that stumbled upon this place; he really didn't have to do so much for her. She was ever so grateful, and she surely would try her absolute best to make it up to him sometime for his kindness. It was kindness that reminded her so much of her...father. A kindness she couldn't describe yet knew so well...
Either way, the girl had opened her mouth to say thank you, but quickly stopped herself upon hearing the mention of her memory. Yes, it had been strange...in the back of her mind, it kept nagging her. But...could it really have been one of these creatures? These...'gods'? Why could they possibly have picked her for? Even if they just needed her as some sort of tool...she was..a bold choice, to say the least. She was a god as well, or at least, is considered one for her abilities. One slip up and she could accidentally destroy the place, just like she had all those years ago. Was there more to this than she thought? Had they...known this..? It was all so confusing...
"..b-but.."
The more she listened, the more the concern on her face had shown. Despite her many questions, she had not bothered to ask any. It scared her, in a way. Though, maybe the fact that they wiped her memory wasn't the part that worried her. It was...more the 'what if' scenarios that worried her. Not only that, but she couldn't help but worry for Larsa as well. Losing his brother to mischievous beasts like that...it must have been traumatic. She could easily imagine how painful it must have been. What if they were to come back? He was the only one left in his family, after all...she didn't want him to be the next to go. Realizing she may have been staring for a bit, Anita shook away the rapid thoughts and nodded firmly. She was in agreement with him--nobody deserved to be harmed by those creatures.
"Of course...j-just...be careful...t-then..."
"I-I believe y-you can do it.."
((eeeeee they are creepy-- they look like giant bugs- though I quite like the design of this one !! vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/fi… ))

"I...I don't think I could fight them directly. They exist out of time...whether or not they can be defeated is unknown to me." After all, they are known as the 'Undying Ones' for a reason. Of course, Venat was destroyed...but only after she'd given up her immortality to merge with Vayne. Larsa...did not know if an Occuria could be destroyed in its pure form. And even if they could, he knows they play a big role in keeping Ivalice from falling apart at the seams. At this rate, they are a necessary evil, and to strike out against them would imperil the world,
"Their titles as gods are not wholly undeserved...they shaped this world into what it is now. And they will do whatever it takes to keep it on whatever path they have set out for it...in their minds. Regardless of who suffers in the process." He shook his head, "Though their influence on this world is significantly weaker than it was 3 years ago, I do not doubt that they would try to regain that control again." He gradually begins to lead her forward again, "I will see that you are kept from harm...you have my word."
//Oooh- That's Gerun....the grand poobah of the Occuria. Also, from here on, I'm probably gonna refer to the Occuria with 'they/them' pronouns...seeing as they are technically genderless.//

Were they really that influential? It was almost surprising to Anita..they really could be considered Gods, whether that be a good or bad thing (and it most certainly didn't sound good). It didn't seem like they could be taken down easily, no matter the skill level...not that that was an option though. Everyone apparently had their hands tied in this situation. They could not get rid of these creatures unless they wished poorly for their society. But letting them continue their 'rule' was just as scary of a thought.
"A-Ah, you...y-you don't h-h-have to.."
Anita in no way wanted to be a burden nor another responsibility for Larsa. It seemed he already had quite enough to worry about. She was a bit on the clumsy side, or at least, a bit reckless, albeit unintentionally. If she were to get into a sticky situation, she would be able to hold herself up until finding means of escape. But...even so...it was the thought that counted. It was always nice to know somebody was watching over you. She began to speak again as she closely followed him.
"I-I...I mean...T-Thank you.."
"Ah.."
"I-I...Appreciate i-it.."
Maybe for a split of a split second, there was a ghost of a smile on her face. Maybe.
(Gerun, they're pretty cool looking imo- and alright, I'll do the same )
