It's a lot of fun creating it and knowing that it is enjoyed by those who see it afterward. is even better!

I am a web designer by trade and have worked with several pro photographers over the past decade - the amount of effort and knowledge that goes into creating images like this, well, it takes my breath away - every time!

This may sound ridiculous, but I ask this question of every artist I connect with -  When do you consider a piece of work complete?

Well, if you're a fan, if you care about something, and if you have a fair amount of understanding in regards to the matter (in this case science fiction and science fact), it's not that hard. Probably easier said than done I suppose... dunno. The rest is knowing the tools to create them. I've been using Photoshop since version 5 or so (not CS5!) for example...

As for when a piece is finished, I'd like to say never, because trust me, I will always find something to improve. However, that's an impossible task, and at some point you have to move on. So, instead I'll say that I consider a work "complete", when I have accomplished what I wanted to achieve. Usually I have a relatively clear image of what I'm trying to do. Not every single detail of course, but a relatively clear outline. Other than that my works usually have to pass "the wife test". Her being a science-fiction fan and artist herself, provides me with a good amount of input.

Hey Thanks!  It's always interesting to hear different folks' perspective on their creations!    "The Wife Test" sounds like an especially good indicator.

Well, I give her pointers when she asks me about her drawings, it works both ways, and since she knows the sci-fi most of my imagery involves around, I also get feedback on the context. I go with "use what'ya got"!
