Perfect, thanks! I think the assignment is due in a few weeks, but right now I have to work on comparing productions of "Das Rheingold" - busy work, but fun. Have you seen the Copenhagen production? You might get a kick out of it.

Alright, my project is go for launch: I am to "pitch" my production design for Die Zauberflote to my tutor on Monday. I'm going to try to nail down some sort of basic concept within the next few days, and I'll keep you posted. 

What have your experiences been with the Magic Flute? What themes/ideas/concepts stick out to you?

No I haven't! Do you have a link? That sounds like a fun project, but as you said, a lot of work. Thankfully that's the shortest of the Ring operas, I think. I have that score too, though I haven't rifled through it as intimately as The Magic Flute or Rigoletto, for that matter. Write to me whenever! I'm posting my Papageno design soon!

I really like some of the reimaginings - it's one of the few productions that completely demythologize the Ring, trying to make it more of a human drama. As a result, people like Alberich suddenly become very relatable, and there are new layers of meaning to be explored. Plus, there are mad scientists in this one.

Doing great! Went skiing yesterday in PA (the only place within 3 hours that still has snow, albeit manufactured snow). Going to be putting together a video soon.

Haha, and I totally fail at snowboarding. At least in skiing my legs are independent of one another. We should teach one another.
