square up{X;;;} WITH a few flawless flips, he (and the plastic bag with two subs he was carrying) easily avoided the gunshots. His body moved quick and sharp with his spider-sense leading the way. The criminal was soon wrapped up in webs and hung from a lamp post in front of the police station. Despite the familiar execution, Peter's mind was thinking about other matters.
{X;;;} HE had to get dinner first.
{X;;;} USING the usual way he snuck in, he soon arrived in Dick's bedroom. This would be the part where his mask would immediately be off in favor of receiving kisses and cracking his usual bad jokes in his boyfriend's arms. Gotham is darker than Scott's Alien movie and somehow worse (if that's even possible considering that place had a giant terrifying alien)- Instead, he was met with the sight of Dick still recovering in bed with bandages covering most of the injuries. It got better after that nasty fight but the sight of it had Peter's fear rise up again. He let the plastic bag drop on the nightstand and soon the mask joined with it.
{X;;;} DICK was currently taking a nap and Peter took the opportunity to sit on the side of the bed and gently brush any stray dark bangs out of the way. Some injuries on his lover's face still had an ugly purple that made Peter want to go out again in search of these scum who did it. But the room was silent and Dick's breathing was even, a steady relief. Both were safe here and the lull had Peter just take in the sight of Dick still being alive and recovering. Dear god, this reckless idiot who almost got himself killed- he lightly pressed his forehead to Dick's. Well, his idiot.
{X;;;} A soft kiss, almost like a feather, was then placed near his brows as Peter shook the other awake, ❝ It's getting late, troublemaker. Got you some dinner before you miss it entirely. ❞ He reached over and held up the worn plastic bag, ❝ 'S Subway though. I wanted some Jimmy Johns but it was the closest. Might as well picked up something from the trash can if I knew I was eventually going to choose Subway. ❞ A poor attempt at humor but Peter was trying it anyway for both Dick and himself.

i. peter had always told him gotham was like a horror show. despite being used to it, dick knew all too well what he meant. he wasn’t born here. he wasn’t from this city, but he embraced it all the same. peter was...an outsider. he was bright and happy, he wasn’t meant for a place like this. ever since he knew peter, he wanted to keep him away from this city at all costs. but nothing seemed to work out in his favor that way.
ii. he may have been a little reckless this time. consider it childish arrogance, but swinging through these streets brought him back to younger days, happier ones, And here, with his beloved peter, made things better. he should have known bane would act up, ruining their time. he didn’t remember much of the fight itself, but he was trying to be careful, really he was, but bane’s serum made him so damn fast...next thing he knew he was on the ground, coughing up his lungs with bruises and a few broken ribs. oh, peter was going to kill him.
iii. after he’d been patched up by alfred (and lovingly scolded), he decided to take his advice, or demands, to stay in bed. he missed his bed in gotham, to be completely honest. even though his and peter’s bed wasn’t the best, it was theirs, and that made it just as good. it didn’t take him long to sleep, feeling like utter shit. where did peter go?? he didn’t know but was too tired to really ask, mind all over the place.
iv. dick may have been hurt, but he was still a light sleeper, so he woke up at peter’s shaking. oh his peter...just the presence of him made him happy. rolling over slightly, he barely made out what peter was saying. something about food, and subway. he thought peter made a joke, but he wasn’t sure. breathing out loudly, he stretched out, trying not to put too much pressure on his torso. “ mm, subway’s fine, love. thank you, though. ”v. he finally sat up and rubbed his eyes before opening them, looking at peter with a curious look, before a smile crept up on his face, coming closer to lovingly peck his cheek. “ i don’t look so bad, do i?? gotta keep these good looks. ”
“ i am starving though. what’d ya get me?? ”
