Thanks for the favorite man. I appreciate it. Medium is just Photoshop, meant to look as if it was on paper.

Is that Ed Templeton you're referring to in your favourites? I met him a couple of years ago with his wife in Sydney, nice humble guy.

Nah, I'm from London. I went travelling there in 2005, I'm big into my skating and was hanging out at the bondi bowl. My friend and I saw this guy walk up who looked damn familiar, but we're both like "nah, it can't be him he's way too fat to be a pro skater" We went over to confirm our suspicion that he was just some random, but shit it was him. He was in town speaking at an advertising conference about his Toy Machine ads. Really nice bloke too!

that's fucking sick. i'm not really an aussie either. i'm from Boston originally.
i was at this music festival once and was checking out this bullshit little half-pipe they had constructed. i noticed this guy do a one footed smith on the coping and was like "could it be?". and yes, it was the one and only Bob Burnquist. when he finished his run we talked for about thirty minutes. turns out pro-skaters are just really nice people.

Thanks. I live in the McGill ghetto... not my first choice, but i didn't know really anything about the city when i first arrived and it was the most convinient place at the time. You're in aus... did you live up here?

yeah, i'm originally from boston and i used to go to mcgill. i lived at solin hall (see deviation), on rue aylmer and in the nouveau colisΓ©e (the really really ugly rounded apartment building on sherbrooke near st. laurent).
now in live in australia.

Hahahaha... Oh, Solin... Some of my friends are in there. I don't know how it was when you were here but a couple kids got busted for cocaine. One of them got expelled, I think. Kids these days...
I live on Durocher! We'd have been neighbours! How are you finding the southern hemisphere?

sounds exactly the same as it was when i was there (not that long ago).
i was rough housing with friend of mine and accidentally put her through a wall. the're heaps flimsy.
a day or so later, when i was trippin' balls, the security guard (an old quebecqua woman) came up to me and told me "nicky, nicky. i know what you did". then she turned green and started to melt. so i freaked out and told her the truth.
to this day i have no idea how she knew it was me (probably my reputation) cause there were no cameras in that particular hall. but she ended up taking care of it for me. all i had to do was apologize.
to bad for you friends Flo Flo doesn't work there anymore. she was a life saver.

oh... and sydney is pretty cool. i guess. i've been here for about... two years (fuck). to be honest with you, montreal is still the coolest place on earth... in my mind. i often wish i was back there.
except for minus forty degree degree walk to uni, of course.

hello humblerodent.
You made me answer to a previous question that was actually asked last august. It was the question, how the progress of details in my works... works. oh darn, my english...
this is the answer:
hey zyphryus.
its been ages, since you commented and i thank you very much for your comment and the detailed question. I am sorry to answer just now.
I have a pretty detailed answer visually for a different picture: [link]
I usually start with the center and evolve the whole picture. I just do detailed pre-sketches of parts that are difficult for me. Usually, I just line out general movements and directions. Thank you for your question : )

Greetings

i lived in montreal for about two years while i was studying english lit at mcgill. i grew to love the city. everything about it. it was just one of those places that felt like more of an extension of my own mind than an actual place on earth. i try to get back there as often as i can.
how long have you lived in/photographed montreal?
nick

Hi!
I arrived in Montreal in 1971. I have photographed Montreal eversince. I started teaching photography at the Cegep du Vieux MontrΓ©al in 1972. I retired in 2005. Looking back, I think that while my teaching experience has been very rich and the relationship with students very comforting and stimulating yet I cannot forget what George Bernard Shaw said about the Arts :"Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach!" A teacher is by definition also a critic and we all know that critics have difficulty creating! I lately realized that about 85% of my best works were done before my teaching stint. Misty was shot in 1964 in Hong Kong while Calligraphy in the snow was done when I started teaching. Those pictures which were done after 1972 were not bad but I feel that they had too many rhetorics attached to them! Though it's difficult to distance myself completely from the teaching act and its analytical needs, I am trying to be more spontaneous with my photography! When you come back to Montreal, please give me a tinkle! Maybe we could do some photography together!
Take care
Philip

sure! i'm not a photographer by trade... obviously, but i am interested all forms of art and would love to get the chance to learn from such an experienced artist.
and as for teaching. i, too, would like to become a teacher someday. though i have heard what you said before. and i've seen it first hand in some of my university courses. but who knows. it's got to be better than starving. right?
i'll give you a shout when i figure out my next trip. how does june sound for you?

Hi!
June is fine! We are going to Florida in May for 10 days. We'll already be back! June is also a nice period. Plenty of light albeit a little less moody!
