# About me
Thank you for visiting! You can also view my work on www.artbyjenniferharrington.com
I am a working artist in Olympia, Washington. I use painting and drawing as a meditative exercise. Nature inspires me, and I love organic shapes, textures, and patterns.
In my drawings, I utilize pattern making to draw the viewer's eye over the piece. The detail and repetition takes patience. This sort of drawing evokes a "visual mantra," if you will. I use Micron permanent ink pens, which are both waterproof and archival. I have a no-pencil motto! A mistake is an opportunity to grow and learn something new!
My paintings also reflect aspects of nature and pattern work. I am fascinated by the ebb and flow of water on a surface. I use Golden fluid acrylics, which blend flawlessly with water (though it is an acrylic, it can also be used as a watercolor). The ratio of pigment to water will determine the medium's viscosity (less water=thicker medium, more water=thinner medium). I use this versatile paint to achieve a variety of effects. For example, as a watercolor dries, the pigment (suspended in water) creates lines of reticulations on the surface.
Below is a list of exhibitions I have been a part of:
Olympia Arts Walk Spring 2013, All About You Salon, Olympia, Washington, April 2013
“Senior Show,” Gallery of Fine Arts, WSU, May 2011
Curated by artist, Michelle Forsyth
