I work with Photoshop CS5, when I’m making the backgrounds. ^^ I usuallya pick up my favourit pictures and the corresponding texture and I try to positioned it in a good way. My Bamboo Pen Tablet helps me to erase the figures and the edges of other images.

ah thanks for the word of advice! your transitions are perfect! I always delete the parts of images I don't want with a soft brush, but I think your way is more effective! love how you combine the various textures!
