I'm going to San Francisco in a week and a half and I'm looking through your gallery to learn more about the places I'll be seeing. You're so educational! It's like "no, I don't need a travel guide, just ~mitya !"

mitya In reply to boscaresque [2011-07-19 18:54:08 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, awesome! I'm so glad you're learning something from my silly little comics!
Let me know if you'd like me to blather on more about any of the things you're thinking of visiting when you're in San Francisco.

Why are you heading over there? Just for fun?

boscaresque In reply to mitya [2011-07-19 18:57:24 +0000 UTC]

Heh, my uncle and his family live over there, and I haven't seen them in years, so yeah.

I'm probably the most excited about going to Alcatraz.

Gosh, I'm glad that you liked it. The Western states interest me, in general. I've done a little bit of traveling through West Texas and New Mexico, but I want to see the whole region one day. *Worst case of wanderlust ever* Maybe it's because they're so far from here.

Alexander-Rowe [2011-03-04 07:37:37 +0000 UTC]

I always wanted to ask you this question, but I never knew how to word it.
Umm I wanted to know, how do you go about personifying structures and things of that nature? Like what type of things do you take into consideration when doing so?
I'm just curious...that's all

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mitya In reply to Alexander-Rowe [2011-03-14 02:22:42 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh jeez I fail at checking dA and related messages for a whole week and then some...gah! So sorry!

I take a lot of things into consideration when coming up with personifications.
In terms of how the characters look, I try to base as much as I can on the way the thing I'm personifying looks. In the case of the faults and other geologic features, I base their coloration on the rock types associated with those faults, and their clothes on rock types and types of clothes people in the area around that fault might wear. In the case of structures, I base coloration on the structure's paint/facade/whatever and try to design clothes that incorporate or suggest other features of the architecture/engineering.

In terms of personality, I guess that's always going to be a little subjective! With the faults, I base it on how the fault behaves geologically, for the most part, and also how it's considered by the public, so far as I can tell. For the structures, their personalities come from their design, their purpose, their location, and the way people interact with them.

I hope that helps! Sorry again for taking so long!

Hi, I am Teddy. Once you read this you cannot get out. Finish reading this until it is done! As I said, I am Teddy. I am 7 years old. I have no eyes and blood all over my face. I am dead. If you don't send this to at least 12 people I will come to your house at midnight and I'll hide under your bed. When you're asleep, I'll kill you. Don't believe me? Case 1: Patty Buckles Got this e-mail. She doesn't believe in chain letters. Well, Foolish Patty. She was sleeping when her TV started flickering on and off. Now she's not with us anymore. Ha ha patty, Ha ha! You don't want to be like Patty, do you? Case 2: George M. Simon Hates chain mail, but he didn't want to die that night. He sent it to 4 people. Not good enough George. Now, George is in a coma, we don't know if he'll ever wake up. Ha ha George, Ha ha! Now, do you want to be like George? Case 3: Valarie Tyler She got this letter. Another chain letter she thought. Only had 7 people to send to. Well, That night when she was having a shower she saw bloody Mary in the mirror. It was the BIGGEST fright of her life. Valarie is scarred for life. Case 4: Derek Minse This is the final case I'll tell you about. Well, Derek was a smart person. He sent it to 12 people. Later that day, he found a $100.00 bill on the ground. He was premoted to head officer at his job and his girlfriend said yes to his purposal. Now, Katie and him are living happily ever after. The have 2 beautiful children. Send this to at least 12 people or you'll face the consequences. 0 people- You will die tonight 1-6 people- you will be injured 7-11 people- you will get the biggest fright of your life 12 and over- you are safe and will have good fortune! Do What Teddy Says!!!! Hurry, you must send to 12 people before midnight
