I use the wacom bamboo pen.
I use corel painter 12 (but it has some size issues so i hardly use it.)
and photoshop cs3.
and smooth like, your lines aren't all jagged and wiggly, idk ill try to draw a circle and midway it makes a straight line and stuff -___-; at least with cs3 it does.

i dont know what corel is,
but i use sai mainly.
only photoshop for backgrounds.
BUT. in photoshop you can use the
pen tool for straight lines.

he says its all about playing with facial features, using shapes to create what you see
