Loved it actually...the country is cold, the people are cold- before they drink. but it is just sooo peculiar, so special-so scandinavian...ehm, need to check where u r from, not to bore you...

I'm from the U.S . . . more specifically, Illinois . . . even more specific, about 70 minutes Northwest of Chicago. I'm planning on studying in Finland in January. My first initial place that I wanted to study was Prague, but I just visited Prague last month and I thought it was horrible. The weather was bad and the people were not too nice (although they have a reason to be, since I was in their country and speaking my native language, not theirs). So Finland was my second choice, and I hope I like it because I'm not going to pay a visit to the country before I go. That's why I'm asking everyone's opinions, including yours.

hehe, your answer is very american, indeed. would you not like a country for a weather that you experienced during your short visit? would you? if weather is what drives you, then you should maybe know, finnland is a scandinavian country, very cold, more short days then long ones. summer does not last long, winter does, the daylight does not stay very long either. I was there in the easter time, it was freezing, they still had snow. People are cold. But they will like you and yes, most of them speak great english. Good luck!

Well, my answer is very American; since I am American. In defense of my answer, though; I have traveled the world quite extensively and Prague was one of the most cold (both figuratively and literally) places that I've ever been. I also paid a ten day visit to England on this trip and it rained 8 of the ten days, but I still loved England, regardless of the weather. As far as the weather in Finland goes you need to remember I'm from Chicagoland, where it's FREEZING 5 months out of the year. So I am no stranger to cold weather. Our days are relatively short in the winter as well, with it being completely dark by 5 PM. So, with that said I think I'll adapt quite well.
