Hey, thanks for the fave! I'm somewhat interested in becoming a tattoo artist. How did you get started?

well to get started every body artist MUST apprentice under another artist. apprenticing can take anywhere from a few months to a few years. you must be very dedicated and be willing to sacrifice and put up with alot. i was at the shop from open to close everyday, had little personal life. getting an apprenticeship isnt so easy either, some shops will offer it to you if they take an interest in you, you can walk in and talk to them, let them know you wanna learn, some may even charge you. costs i hear can start in the thousands. i was fortunate enough to get mine for free through a shop that was in dire need for help. most apprenticeships are rough, you must clean the shop which means mopping, dusting, scrubbing, sterilizing, cleaning windows, vacuuming. you will have to run errands for the artists. basically be the shop slave. they will ask alot from you and put you thru alot but thats done to weed out those who dont really want it. its all worth it in the end tho, you will gain family, a skill to live on, and a job. but as i said, its only for those who really want it, really should not be done as a hobby. ive probably answered more than you were looking for haha but thats how i started, by getting an apprenticeship and following through with it. if you have any questions, comments, or anything at all feel free to write.
