the feeling of the other's lips placing themselves softly against her skin was comforting.
yeah, their relationship dynamic wasn't always perfect- axel's tough exterior and albany's sensitive nature clashing-
but it was the constant moments like these that reminded albany just why'd she'd fallen in love with the rockstar.

★ | may 26. the day LA serpentines officially signed to geffen records. it took three years of playing wherever they can to attract the attentions of major record labels such as geffen. it's been blood, sweat and tears all the way to get this far. geffen weren't the first to approach the band, no. during the third year of playing, the boys were noticed by small labels that were happy to sign them, but only if they'd change their sound and image to fit their standards. naturally, the serpentines turned those offers down with a big 'FUCK YOU'. they won't change for anyone, thank you very much. they couldn't get a manager to save their lives, either. one look at the boys and they'd leave. drugs, partying, mayhem all day and night - whoever came to meet them believed it would be hell to manage a bunch of drug junkies on the verge to destruction, and "not taking the music seriously"... 'yeah, the music is fucking A! but drugs is backing them up! they can't go one day without it! it's a total nightmare!' basically, their drug addiction would scare the managers away. they didn't have it in them to take the lads further to their goals. but that didn't matter. god works in mysterious ways, after all. the serpentines were like diamonds in the rough so it was their loss. it's funny, though. the band would be just as happy with a small time label, but had to turn those down and waited long enough instead to hit the jackpot with geffen - one of the leading record labels in the world. axel believed in fate - it was their fate with geffen. and geffen was the only one to open the doors for them.
★ | he couldn't wait to tell albany the news! she's been with him all these months to know how much of a struggle it truly was fighting for that deal. he couldn't even believe it just happened. the contract signing! the money in advance! their own recording studio! geffen offering them full artistic freedom! it was everything the band wanted, everything! axel drove home as fast as he could, impatient at the red lights, people honking horns at him. but oh, he didn't care! the joy. the joy! this was it. finally his dreams can be fulfilled, his wishes of releasing an album, touring around the world, becoming one of the best rock and roll bands on this earth...! oh, axel had high, high ambitions, and he wanted to fulfil each and every one of them. he wanted to let the world know who. they. were. not just LA. they were going global, baby!
"ALBANY, WE DID IT! WE FUCKING DID IT, BABY!"
★ | those were the first words spoken- or rather shouted by axel as he bursts through the door of their apartment, the copy of the contract held tight in his hand, rushing towards albany like a storm. the pure elation seen on his face, like he won a multi-million dollar lottery, but better! he just could not contain his excitement, he was practically trembling with joy as he waved the contract in front of her like winning the golden ticket.
"WE HIT THE JACKPOT!"

for albany, the day had started off as if it were any other. in fact, she was completely unaware of the storm on it's way home right at this moment. oh, girl, what you have to look forward too in a mere- oh, i'd say five minutes. in the meantime, while she was blissfully unaware of axel in traffic, she sat at home. the day wasn't much of note physically. she had nothing planned and more importantly nothing due! she had no reason to leave the house or look halfway presentable- so she'd taken the chance to veg out on the couch, currently contorting her body in a feat of flexibility to attempt simultaneously holding her cellphone to her ear with her shoulder, and painting her toe-tails a baby pink (her favorite).
"ugh, pick up..." she chirped as the phone continued to dial, the other end remaining silent. letting the device slip from her ear and flop onto the couch cushion she huffed. she was beginning to realize how much she wasn't a homebody. she needed something to do- maybe someone. axel, hurry up and get home from work, she mourned in loneliness while finishing off her pinkie toe. leaning back to get a good look at her masterpiece, she dipped the brush tip back into the small bottle, sealing it up and beginning to wiggle her toes in a sorry attempt to dry them. swinging her legs off the couch, she stood now, feeling the familiar tingle of a sleeping limb as she made her way over to the kitchen for another round of early morning pinot noir to sip on.
and that is when the thunder rolled deep. she didn't even have time to register the sound of keys in the front door lock, as it swung open with such ferocity for a moment she thought the apartment was being robbed. "ax-!" her voice was caught by her lips as she watched axel with wide eyes, pupils desperately trying to settle on the piece of paper being waved in her direction.
"what- what!?" she held up a hand as if trying to catch the paper in midair, fingers shadowing his frantic movements as she tried to get a good look at what the excitement was about.
"axel slow down! what- jackpot? i'm- confused!" though, her tone began to pick up in pitch as the excited look on her lovers face began to reflect on her own. clearly this wasn't a bad surprise, so- what was it? the cogs in her brain were working as the pieces slowly came together without axel having to say much at all. was this what she thought it was? the guys got their big break?

★ | oh, he couldn't slow down! this boy was in a complete frenzy! this super mass exciting news really getting his adrenaline going, that wild glint in his eyes! and this was his way of surprising albany, almost scaring the life out of her or pretty much anyone for that matter. lucky she didn't drop the glass. it wasn't in his nature to do this calmly, after all. but then again, who wouldn't bounce off the damn walls? axel could barely say much apart from:
"WE GOT SIGNED! LOOK! THE CONTRACT! WE DID IT!"
★ | and trying to slow down his feverish movements so she could look at the damn thing and not have to jump for it, he held the document with a steady yet trembling hand for her eyes to see. and yup, there it was - written as clear as day, in black and white, no funny business - the record contract between geffen and LA serpentines, including the advance sum of money, the studio, artistic control over their music... the works, all in print! it was a great day to be alive.
★ | though albany barely had a chance to look at all this as when the moment her fingers took ahold of the paper, axel's strong arms wrapped around her waist, lifting her up in his euphoria and giving his girlfriend a little spin. it was such a darling moment shared between them. and for axel, it meant the world that albany gets to share this moment with him.
"We're gonna be big, baby! We're gonna take over this world!"
★ | nothing could stop axel's drive, his passion, his zeal for his music to dominate rock across the globe. and that's gonna start as soon as the debut album drops. the band are gonna give it their absolute all to make it kick ass! gonna make a dream become reality. albany knew how much it meant not only to axel, but to her - what girl didn't want her man to succeed?
★ | setting his girl back down, his arms were still around albany as he came to fully embrace her, hugging her tightly in his happiness. he kinda needed it too, since he was still buzzing from adrenaline. it just meant... so damn much to the band, to axel after years of struggles and hardships.

albany could feel her heartbeat in her throat, she wanted to shout just as much as axel- but was stunned into silence by the mere thought of axel's dream really coming true. they'd spent late nights up talking about the future, albany weighing on the side of caution- even occasionally wondering if the boys should've signed with a quieter label, taken smaller deals. she was glad she hadn't voiced this- convinced him otherwise. she fully believed in axel and his dream- and now they were living it. he deserved it, of course to her axel deserved the world- so perhaps she was biased. but that didn't matter much now. in the moment, she was ecstatic, grinning from ear to ear as she listened to axel rave about taking the world by storm. with his level of talent, she was surprised it hadn't happened sooner.
"oh baby, this is amazing! you're amazing!" she cheered his rowdy nature on, not caring if they'd receive a noise complaint for this one (what were they on? like 'warning' number 20 now?). being scooped up in his arms, she felt her center of gravity shift, hair blurring her vision as she was spun through the air and set back down in one swift motion. being wrapped in his warm embrace she wanted nothing more than this moment to last forever. she could feel the drum of his heart against her skin, smiling into the fabric of his shirt as she rested her face into his shoulder.
pulling back she sent a gleaming grin in his direction, almost unable to form any words. to fill the silence, she stole a kiss from axel's lips as words ruminated in her mind.
"you're incredible. i don't know what took them so damn long to find you." she hummed, tone still excited but at a far lower octave than before.

★ | still buzzing with glee, axel pretty much had a lot more to say in his excitement, but was glad that albany's kiss came to save the moment. he wouldn't wanna be super corny or anything, but experiencing this special moment with the one he truly loved was magical, heartfelt. this was an important milestone in his life as it meant so damn much to him ever since forming a band. and of course to everyone else in the band, too. to share it with albany, however... it just meant a lot to someone like axel. he felt like she was truly lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
★ | albany was right - what the hell took them so long? letting out a sigh, axel just smiles vaguely, sliding both hands up her arms to gently wrap warm fingers around her wrists. he knew for sure that the previous labels were either too controlling or just didn't wanna deal with a bunch of drug-rage rockers, nevermind the raw, powerful music they made. currently, axel was by far the sober one out of the group, even if he did do a bit of coke and weed every now and again. but it wasn't as bad as the rest ...which was getting pretty worse by the minute, especially izzi and lash's heroin addiction. but albany didn't need to know that. he didn't wanna trouble her with his band's affairs. she only had to worry about him.
"Man, that's what I've been asking myself. We've been all over LA, we should'a been signed like- the first or second year of playing, tops! But baby, this is one of those major record labels, none of that small-time deal shit. This is real deal. Geffen is the shit. It only takes the best acts to sign up to these guys, and we got it in the end. That's what counts."
★ | axel loved having to remind that his band was the very best of the best. call it his egocentric nature, but where rock and roll was pretty much dying and outdated, the serpentines were bringing it back, bigger and better than ever. and what sets them apart from most rock bands was that these boys were authentic, and don't please themselves for anyone but themselves. so watch out - they're gonna be full of danger, led by an unmanageable singer but with a unique body, a voice of viper ready to bite.
"I mean- Look!"
★ | pulling the contract copy from albany's fingers, axel pointed at all the relevant things he was animatedly rambling about with an index finger at the printed letters, his eyes holding that excited glint.
"We got our own studio! Our own recording studio! How amazing is that?! What we've always wanted right from the start! Shit, now we can make real music, get the album going...! Baby, I'm so fuckin' pumped about this!"
★ | oh, hell, this motherfucker was pumped as fuck. he scooped albany close for a quick kiss before going back to his ramblings.
"Oh, and they offered us 75K in advance. Could'a been a bit higher, but still, I don't think we'd get another better deal than them. Plus they offered us full artistic freedom which means we have the right to control our music, how we want it to be. Remember those other labels that wanted to change our sound and image? Well, those fucking losers are probably shooting themselves in the foot by now."
★ | came his cynical scoff, running his tongue over his bottom lip as he took another attentive look at the contract. he just could not stop looking at this thing. he might as well frame it on the wall.

★ | with a giddy looking smile on his features, axel reads the message as he’s already walking towards the door. he’s so excited to see his baby come home tonight that he felt a rush sweep over him.
★ | sliding his phone on the sideboard, his fingers work to unlock the front door of their apartment. and without wasting another moment in playing around, he pulls the door open and his grin just widens at the sight of her.
★ | he doesn’t even give her a chance to react. reaching for her arm, he pulled her inside and slammed the door shut. within an instant, axel’s hungry, aching, kiss-deprived lips was upon hers, pushing her against the door. the cheetos and marlboros were forgotten at this point.

( in-between locked lips, when breath was unfortunately requiring their mouths to part, albany stole a heated moment to speak. )

★ | axel didn't stop his lips moving there. he couldn't waste a single moment. soft kisses were peppered along her jawline to under her ear where his teeth would tug at her lobe. he breathed in her scent that he so missed, her warmth, her body against his, the softness of her hair where his hands buried themselves in... he took it all in, quickly losing himself in her as he always did. god, had he missed the hell outta his girl.
"You have no idea how much I missed you..."
★ | you better know it, girl. his spring greens meeting her sky blues, fingers bunching in her warm, sunny tresses. he was just so damn grateful for having her back home after that long business trip away. almost like the time when he was away a week long for the gigs. one thing is for sure: touring is definitely gonna be a hard time for the both of them.

★ | gaze flicks to those begging-to-be-kissed lips as he goes back the second time, delighting her senses once again. he just couldn't have enough of kissing her. he was more of a kisser than a cuddler. albany's soft, sweet, cherry chapstick lips moving against his own, while his tongue dared to flick and tease her on, a sneaky hand sliding down to hitch her leg up against him.

( all she knew is the time without him was far from enjoyable. when she was alone albany could catch herself reflecting axel's mannerisms, a sweet reminder of how influential he was on her. )

( her balances is shifted as the other takes her weight, but it's no problem to stay up as she pressed against the door. )
( albany's hands now move from their relaxed position over axel's shoulders to one daring the back of his neck to curl fingers through his hair. )
( they both belonged in a tresemmé commercial. )
( as much as she didn't want to, she had to pull back, collect herself- stare at axel's face, the visage she dearly missed. )
"mm, i've barely got in the door."
( she hummed lowly, words barely above her breath as her gaze trailed slowly over axel's features. )
"are you even gonna let me get settled in?"
( her tone was more challenging than anything else, the hard-to-get tease from being weeks apart drowning her voice. )

★ | axel's strong arms slinks beneath her open coat and wrapped firmly around her waist just as she prompted a question. it made him smirk against her skin - not just at the question itself, but the way she said it. he so missed his sassy women.
"Mmmmmaybe. Maybe not."
★ | he teases back, moving his face to hers as he bit down at his cheeky smirk. but just enough for a quick glance as he couldn't resist the urge to go back to smooching the contours of her face, warm words spoken between.
"At this point, I don't care about anything but you."
★ | he makes it clear by his actions, added emphases on the word 'you' by teasingly squeezing her hips, emitting a low chuckle from his throat.
★ | from the teasing came a tender moment when axel rests one side of his cheek on her shoulder, arms enclosing her body in a cradling embrace.
