Filling sketchbooks with pen drawings and light water color washes. Just came back from a week at Maldives, superb climate. Life is good to me.

Had to look up the Maldives,looks interesting.
Cold here in NY, but I actually enjoy the winter, most of the time. Slippery on the roads yesterday.
Productive period for me painting wise.

Climate in Maldives was perfect, resort gets to be boring after a week.
Snorkeling there was out of this world.
Had to be careful with contents of sketchbook I took along; images of religious worship (a cross, or a buddha) or "pornography" (reclining nude, say) are illegal there. Islamic country.

I like how your paintings capture sunny days, with the bright contrasts. I was wondering, do you do these paintings plein-air, from sketches, photos or memory? They seem to be from plein-air sessions, but that would mean you travel a lot?

I work outdoors a lot,
sawkilres was done out doors on a nice day a week or two ago. I am probably in until spring now. Depends on weather. In the studio I work from sketches and photos.

yes alaypinkus, french easel, can be set to lie flat though I almost always paint at some angle these days.

Your artwork is nothing short of stunning! Hard to believe you are only 16, you must draw a lot to be able to pull off what you do. You handle things like depth suggestion and especially composition really well, your images are really well-balanced. I know people who were painting before you were even born who can not paint nearly as well as you do. People usually need to go to art school to do what you do

I'm flattered!

It's funny you should ask that.. Because each composition seems to be completely different in process. I haven't developed a certain process for painting yet, and a lot of the time, I start something and find that I'm not good enough yet to pull it off well.. So it's a bit of a hit and miss kinda thing. Sometimes, I'm confident about it, and other times, I drop it. It's not the best way to do art
Often times, I have a desperate desire for a good teacher, but I don't know anyone around here who could teach me digital painting...

I really want to get into Art school to learn these things. There is a college in California that has a heavenly curriculum, but I'm not sure if I'm good enough to get in. They have a VERY low acceptance rate from what I understand. It's the Entertainment Design program at Art Center College of Design in Pasadina, CA.
