Oh cool. I also have modded mine a little bit as well. Its an okey bike for the most part. I kinda wish that it used more standard components when it comes to fixing it. That's one thing you have to remember when buying any department-store bike. they use oddball components.
Anyways, enough of my rambling.

oh yeah definitely, I replaced the rear brake pads and wire, only to realize the wire I got was too long and I had to figure out a way to make it work without it sticking out being an eyesore. I'm glad tubes and rims are pretty much universal or I'd have to worry about finding the perfect one for the bike >.< I actually got this bike from a pawn shop. I wasn't prepared to pay $130 at Walmart when I got this one for $70 at the pawnshop.
Is that light on the bike functional? If it is...how is it powered??

Fox-Blade In reply to satxwolf [2013-10-18 19:22:34 +0000 UTC]
Ah, the light. Yes, its totally functional. It is powered by the bottle styled generator that runs off the groove from the rear tire. While the light works enough, it can not compare to the power of modern LED lights (Hence, the halogen bulb). Also, when the generator is engaged,Β it creates friction off of the rear wheel. Think of it like if you were always lightly applying the rear brake.
But, right now I only use the generator light as a backup. For my main front light I use a Blaze 2 Watt LED which does about 150 lumens.Β And for the rear (heh), I have the Serfas Thunderbolt UTL-6. The only other things I use is Avid SD-5 brake pads for the rear and a Trek Incite 9i as the computer.

oh kewl. That rear light is nice and a unique idea. I haven't seen that done to a mountain bike.

The Thunderbolt light almost feels stupid bright when you first turn it on. In some cases I think it may be even be brighter than some of the LED brake lights the newer cars have these days.

that's insane. Where do you live? Is that even legal to have on the bike? Lol.
