Gosh, really? Thank you. I don't know if my writing is all that great but it still feels wonderful to hear people say things like that.

I know that you could write like me or better if you just keep practicing. Most good writing happens after lots and lots of reading and writing.

Yeah, I've been trying to get better for a while but I keep getting writer's block. I signed up for a creative writing program at my town's library to try and find a way to get out of this rut I've been in.

My creative writing teachers always say, "if you're blocked, read something great (or something not so great). If it doesn't inspire you or unblock you, read some more. If you're still blocked, maybe it's your subconscious telling you that being a writer isn't what you're meant to do". They also said, "Writer's Block can be defeated if you write every day for at least 3 pages, even if it's garbage. Make a habit out of sitting down to the computer and just having words pour out of you. You can't polish what you don't practice." These teachers do write every day and it shows. Nearly all of them have been publish in the last 2 years, and all their writing is just amazing. It takes my breath away.

I use the 3 pages to write about my insecurities and fears about my writing, which my current favorite creative writing teacher says is on of the causes of writer's block--fear. He also said "Once you realize there is enough creativity for everyone and that you don't have to compete with the greats, fear starts to go away."
