Whipscorpion just so happens to be an actual insect; the most creepiest looking of its kind. Though I was aware of the creature, I never made the name correlation because I'm not up on my Nat Geo.Β
Anyway, I'm happy to connect with you via Tumblr as it seems (for me) that's the place to be when not here. Talk to you soon.

Oh yeah, the name was inspired from such animal "also known as the Vinegaroon". Can't remember why that was my first choice for a page ID to be honest at the time. Ill keep in touch through tumbler too.

Thank you I'll check it out when I get home and respond to everyone else. On a week long vacation cruise liner without free Wi-Fi, except for this one island. DA won't let me post a status update regarding it right now.

I see you've joined our group dedicated to Clark Ashton Smith. I hope you enjoy. Have you read Smith's work? He's my favorite author and my greatest influence.

Yes I have been reading much of his works mostly his short stories.Β He is indeed quite the gem of writers and I never thought I would find such a fascinating writer.Β I especially love his series of stories relating to the various worlds of sort he created and the mythos to them.Β Very inspirational and grateful I found out about him from KingOvRats art piece dedicated to one of his short stories:Β Smith - Dweller in the Gulf

I see that my quest to spread the word about CAS works as intended. Glad you like his stuff, he'es worth of being as much recognised as Lovecraft in my opinion.

I actually have never read any of H. P. Lovecraft's works yet, though; working towards him. CAS and William Hope Hodgson so far have been my introduction to the world of Lovecraftian/horror literature.

Ah, excellent. I'm glad people are learning more about Smith through KOR. Dweller in the Gulf is an amazing horror story, too!Β
I'm not sure what you've read so far obviously, but in case you'd like some suggestions, these are a few stories from Smith you mustn't miss!:Β
The Tale of Satampra Zeiros
The Coming of the White Worm
The Last Incantation
The Double Shadow
The Death of Malygris
The Empire of the Necromancers
The Isle of the Torturers
The Dark Eidolon
The City of the Singing Flame
Genius Loci

Ah, a fine selection so far! This might interest as well as disappoint you: Smith once planned to write a story set entirely on an ocean planet, filled with bizarre alien sea life and strange aquatic races! It's a shame he never wrote this story, because I think you'd be able to illustrate a Smithian ocean world better than anyone else.

Man that sounds amazing! Such a shame he never got to write it. Tons of potential and with his writing it could of been his best yet. Just the concept of it does give me some ideas/inspiration. I've been focusing on getting some work out for a lifelong personal project of mine, but that sound good enough for a second project to work on. I've only now found enough indpiration to fit all the ideas I mustered over the years together. I'm even willing to give writing another go now as another outlet to get concepts/short stories out.

Whether written or painted, I look forward to any new project from you.
If you'd like to learn more about this lost ocean world, Smith wrote a brief synopsis of it! Lots of weird, cool details. The ocean world is called Alioth, and it can be read about on eldritchdark, a website which displays all of Smith's stories and poetry.

Thank you!Β Yes sea life has always been a fascination of mine and many marine life painters/illustrators inspired me such to start with sea life.Β Working on branching out a bitΒ as well to fantasy related subjects to include.Β Welcome for the support, your paintings are fascinating and beautiful.Β
