Hi, thanks for the fav. I noticed the conversation on welding and eightup747 is right about the thicker and thinner metal welding. As far as welding vertically always start from the top down, that is if your using a mig welder, if you're using a tig it's actually easier to go from bottom up. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the favorite! I took the time to look through your gallery since I love working with metal as well and you have some very creative pieces. No offense intended but I have the feeling you haven't been welding very long. If you would like any pointers when it comes to welding or metal work I would be more than happy to talk your ear off about it.

No I have not been welding very long. About 3 months, but it is getting better. The vertical stuff is not easy and when I have 2 thicknesses of metal, but it is getting better. I need to get my welder hooked up so I can put in more hours. Right now I am taking a class and that gives me 3 hrs a week for 12 weeks and I tend to rush my welds. They are not pretty but they hold up to a sledge hammer test lol.

Well practice practice practice, even if its just laying a flat weld on a piece of scrap metal. It will get you use to the motion and it lets you see what the weld is doing. For the different thickness of metals, start off on the thicker one and start your little weld pool, then after you see that it has penetrated the full depth loop it over to the thinner metal.
