Nope and nope. If he said "the execution won't happen", he would be shot because he said a false statement, and if he said "this execution is wrong" that would be an opinion, not a statement. And I'm not that good at making riddles---got that one from a book.

He says "I will be shot dead". If that is a true statement, they will have to hang him, but that makes the statement false. If that is a false statement, they will have to hang him, but that makes his statement true. So they have to let him go.
