What a beautiful photo! Looks like Lumpy needs a good moult though, his flight feathers are in a bad state! I love Great Greys, I'm hoping to fly one sometime.

Thanks for the comment Harris-Hunting, Glad you like that photo, Year he does need a moult, His hasn't had one yet those are his first set of adult feathers, he just likes to be awkward at times ^.^ He is awesome in flight though a pure joy to fly, very very loyal at the moment!

They all have their awkward moments... Especially owls! He looks brill otherwise! And I bet it's great fun flying him. I've never had the chance with a Great Grey yet. Only worked with a few owls. Eurasian Eagle Owl, Bengal Eagle Owl, witnessed the imprinting of a load of barnies but only flown a couple. Worked briefly with some others but those were a part of the main gang at the centre!

If you get the chance do I once when to my Centre on an off day to take some photographs and he picked me out from the crowd and landed on the bench next to me, and stared at me indigently because I didn't have any food!

If your ever in the North West of England, Pop into our centre and you can see Lumpy in person! [link] This is our website

Aww', bless! I flew an owl that wouldn't let me move without jumping on my shoulder. And once I was in tears, just with my boss, flying a barn owl who didn't want to fly. As soon as I lowered my glove and broke down she was there on my shoulder. I felt much better after a quick preen. She used to jump on my shoulder a lot, although less frequently than her brother 'Thug', who just used to spend most of his time on one of us. I really think the relationship we have with the birds is something really special. And they definitely react to different people differently, like your Lumpy picking you out of the crowd.

I've just checked out your centre, it looks awesome! You've got tons of different birds there! We were a very small centre but since they moved they took on another collection and now have about 30 birds. 120 birds is an EPIC collection.

Great picture! I love the white background too, it really magnifies the beauty of the bird ^^

Thanks Tameless-Love, I'm glad you like it, sometimes the white back ground annoys me but I agree with (and grateful for) your comment. It was a dull overcast sky that day blanket of grey cloud. (My most hated conditions to shoot in) Had to spend some time lightening up the photo after. DX
