Description More digital experiments!

As I mentioned in my previous work, making a traditional sketch and coloring it traditionally seems to be the best compromise to make quick drawings with a consistent style, and when I'll attempt making a new comic this is most likely how it will look.
It will take me a while, as I'm still practicing of course. This time I tried making the colors less brilliant and saturated, and add some textures. I have to admit I'm very pleased with the result.

This is a completely new land for me, so if you have any feedback I'd be glad to hear it! Hope you like it!

Wow, 0laf! Just by looking at the thumbnail, I couldn't tell if it was one of your paintings! The only thing I notice is that the colors seem more smoother. I think you're well on your way to mastering both traditional and digital art! Β

This looks very nice, I still haven't posted any of my experiments with digital color. I'm just not comfortable enough with it yet. As you mentioned the saturation is an issue as well as feeling like the details are getting lost.

Very nice picture there! I'd say that the colors in this one are lessΒ saturated than in your previous digital drawing, though they still 'pop out' more than in the traditional drawings. Anyway, keep up good work! Β

Looks good, I like it It's easy to go over saturated with digital. I usually use watercolors and colored pencils myself and my colors are always very delicate and I find it hard to get those really dark colors. When I color digitally I tend to go overboard just because I can. So you did a very good job. I've also been pondering about digital since I've started to have some nerve compression in my shoulders and using colored pencils probably isn't helping. With digital I could at least keep my head straight.

Aah, you are improving rapidly!Β  The colours do seem much more like your usual pallet.Β  Honestly, the environment seems exactly like what we're used to.Β  The only real difference I can see is that the character's colours seems somewhat 'smooth'.Β  I never really thought about it, but I guess watercolours lend themselves well to fur, because of the slight texture it has.Β  But this still looks amazing!Β  How much faster would you say digital colouring is, compared to traditional?

Glad you think so! Watercolor gives indeed a lot of "natural" texture, and that is what I have to work on now, trying to make a quick but decent texture for fur and fabric.
It depends, really, also because I'm still very inexperienced with digital. I'd say digital is quicker, though.

There is no greater place for a break and gossip like the ol Scuttle butt. In this case the well or in the office the ol' water cooler. To my inexperienced eye I couldn't tell ya because this all looks super amazing to me. I can tell you from perusing art across the internet your works are some of the best in my humble opinion of course.
