Seriously though if someone walked up to me dressed like that I guarantee there'd be a few injureies to the wearer, before AND after I learn it's a costume. It's too big to be that realistic. I kinda have a fear of big spiders but it's more and caution to some's more nasty bites than anything. I otherwise find spiders interesting. Now replace this scenario witha bee costume and well things would be infinitely worse, mainly as bees are my phobia.

Honestly that's the main strategy, appear as little threatening/interesting as possible. Starts out watchful and avoiding then slow paralysis with less distance until completely frozen until either it leaves or I bolt, depending on which comes first.Β

Have we ever seen a canon reaction of Rarity to spiders?
For all I know Rarity could admire them as fellow weavers.

Depending on if you accept it as canon, yes we have in the MLP comic (issue #2). She's not at all thrilled to encounter giant arachnids, but she handles it rather calmly- until her mane gets caught in their webs...
Fluttershy's reaction, on the other hoof, is exactly as enthusiastic and accepting as she is here.

Rarity is usually portrayed as a stereotypical "Lady", so a fear for spiders isn't far fetched. And even people without Arachnophobia would probably react this way when confronted with a spider this big.
