And now for something a little diferent .This is Kira , from my Favorite movie of all time , The Dark Crystal.
For you ,young ones ,that dont know this 1982 fantasy movie , go watch it now .
And in the case you are wondering , she is a Gelfling , and yes , her kind her point ears , big mounth and nose , and only 4 fingers .
that furball she is holding , its her pet Fizgig , and he is literaly that , a furball .
This is a 3 hours painting that just poped out of my mind .

I had a thing for her as a kid and this is one of my favorite movies since i was 4 and one of the movies that made a sci-fi/fantasy geek for 29 years.

1982 was THE YEAR for movies .
Here in my country , since VCR was a luxury for the rich on that timeΒ , andΒ I was abble to watch double sessions in theaters,
I watched Dark Crystal 16 times .
by far , my favorite movie of that time .

One of my faves too as i own the movie on DVD and blu-ray plus have poster, a few shirts, graphic novel prequels, 2-disc CD soundtrack and all that plus the novelization.
So many damned good movies came out in my birth year 1982. You had Blade Runner, ET, Conan the Barbarian, Star Trek II, Β Rocky III, Tron, Poltergeist, The Thing, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Gandhi, Tootsie, Richard Pryor Live at the Sunset Strip, First Blood, The Dark Crystal, The Secret of NIMH, The Flight of Dragons, The Last Unicorn, Pink Floyd The Wall, 48 Hours and others ain't i right?
Kira is a cute gal isn't she? she was one of my first crushes at age 4 along with Lady Amalthea from The Last Unicorn, Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Lea Thompson and more. Speaking of Lady Amalthea, can you draw her as well as Melisande from Flight of Dragons?

Wow, this is really really good. You actually make her look really pretty rather than creepy like in the movie, lol. I mean don't get me wrong, superb puppetry and all, but I don't think Henson and co could get past that creepy old-timey doll look.
Oh, and The Dark Crystal just so happens to be my all time favorite movie too.

OMG I LOVE this movie!!! And only 3 hours?? God I wish I could be that fast at digital painting. I have trouble blending my colors and geting the textures I want quickly. I downloaded some PS brushes that I found on here, but they still take forever and dont blend well. What brushes do you use may I ask? What setting etc? Airbrush is great for blending but I dont want everything all airbrushy.

Ah, yes, the nostalgia! I'd watch this movie annually as I child. Even when there were other movies around, this one kind of stuck. Just watching it today, I came to realize that this film touched me more than anything else I've seen! Very nice realistic affect, by the way.

I just saw THE DARK CRYSTAL like 2 weeks ago for the first time. I always heard great things about it, but just never got the chance to see it. Well it didn't disappoint me. Your picture is so . . . beautiful like the movie. I wish the movie would run on TV so the young ones would see what a REAL kids movie is. Love this pic!
