Description It's a long, long time
from May to December,
but the days grow short
when you reach September;
when the cold north wind
turns the leaves to flame
and you don't have time
for the waiting game;

when the days dwindle down
to a precious few:
September, November;
gone all those golden days
I spent with you--
those golden days
I spent with you.

--Maxwell Anderson

this is for those of us in the autumns of our lives

Thanks. I think it has to be the best artwork I've ever done. I'm reluctant to keep pursuing art, in part, because I don't think I'll ever match this.

It's just super large and takes a long time to download...if you have dialup it probably can't be downloaded. I hope you like the non-animated version, anyway.

This is awesome! I notice when you rightclick it comes up as a bmp not a GIF...is it actually a GIF? Just wondering how that works.

1footonthedawn In reply to webfoe [2008-02-06 17:02:28 +0000 UTC]

A BMP? Huh. I have that problem sometimes and have never figured out why it does that. It doesn't happen in Netscape, just in Internet Explorer, as far as I can tell. It should be a JPG (still, small or large view) or an animated GIF (if you click download.) I used it as a desktop background this morning for awhile. FIrst time I've used an animated desktop. I wanted to weep, it was so beautiful. I feel that if I died now, I've produced three good kids and what I consider to be the most perfect artwork possible (given the limitations...for example, I had to limit this to 24 frames and it's STILL too big)...but I can rest easy!

Today I'm trying to get a virus off my computer that I picked up opening something from the school district my husband works for. So no art play for me today. *hurries Symantec*

AH, the netscape vs. IE problems....bummer...I wanted to try to use it as a wallpaper too!
You did a truly wonderful job with it.

ARGGHH!

Holy shit that's just beautiful. I'd make it my desktop wallpaper, were it not for =Lumix-DMC having made me one.

I did that this morning. I wanted to weep, it was so beautiful. I'm sure it eats computer resources like there's no tomorrow....so I didn't leave it up. I've never been so happy with a piece of artwork I did myself. I want to redo it with a lot more than 24 frames and save it as a Flash animation and put it on Youtube with "September Song."

Abfc In reply to 1footonthedawn [2008-02-06 17:20:13 +0000 UTC]

Abfc counted 60 frames.

1footonthedawn In reply to Abfc [2008-02-06 18:55:04 +0000 UTC]

60?! Ack. I haven't mastered this software yet. I must have done something wrong as I didn't intend to have that many frames. I should have caught it in GIF Movie Gear, but I probably wasn't paying attention to anything but adding the siggy. Hmm, I wonder how many frames it takes before the snowflakes fall properly all the way through. There's a definite jump between the last and first frame. Thanks for telling me. I'll be more attentive to that next time.

I'm fighting against a virus on my computer today. No art play for me till Symantec is done with my machine.

One thing you can do to figure it out is to right click on the GIF file, assuming you use windows, and click properties. Then go to the "Summary" tab and at the bottom of the detail list, you'll find "Frame Count."
