Description The adventurer had finally made it to the outskirts of town. After losing their mount on a quest, it had been a long trip to the closest village. Luckily, the nearby village was known for producing and selling the best horses around, and although they were also known for charging more than most for mounts, the adventurer had also luckily been paid well to cover their loss.

As they approached the town, feet aching, they began hear a growing commotion from within the town walls. Curious, they wandered in towards the market, only to see a truly bizarre sight. People were fleeing the market in a panic, amongst them a mixture of horses and strange creatures, a flurry of panicked screams bursting from their misshapen mouths as they rushed by.

“Help me, please, help meeeiiiiigh,” one screamed.

“Get out, while you can! She-neeiiigh,” another yelled at the adventurer as they ran from a broken gate among several horses, moved closer. As the adventurer got a closer look at the nearing creature, they noticed something they had never seen before. The creature, mostly resembling a woman, seemed to be changing the closer they got into something inhuman.

Large, long ears sprouted from dark brown hair, hair that matched a thick tail that followed behind her as she ran. And it was clearly a her, as a feminine body seemed to be barely constrained by what little clothes she wore. Her face, however, was not feminine at all, as a large, wide nose seemed to be getting wider as it pushed out from her face. Her teeth seemed to be getting too large for her mouth, as her lips swelled up, turning dark, along with the enlarged nostrils on the edge of her nose.

While her arms were outreached towards the adventurer, her feet looked to not be feet at all, but instead blocky hooves, much like the hooves of the horses running with her, as if they were all desperately fleeing something up ahead. She seemed to be struggling to stand upright as she reached out for the adventurer, still weary from their travels, before finally grabbing ahold of the adventurer desperately.

“Please, I beg you, run. It’s too late for meeiiiigh,” they shouted in the adventurer’s face, before letting go, their hands quickly twitching before fusing into a solid mass, a dark substance coating the end of her fingers as they shrank down to almost nothing. Her face continued to push out as her nose and mouth combined into a muzzle, forcing her eyes further apart as they turned dark brown.

The panic on her face was harder to notice with the changes, but it was still clearly visible in her eyes as they grew larger, along with most of her body getting larger. Her skin began to appear darker, only for the adventurer to realize it was in fact dark brown hair sprouting all over her body. At that point it was unmistakable, this creature, seeming once a woman, was becoming a horse, much like the ones running rampant throughout the marketplace.

With this realization, the adventurer finally noticed someone up ahead, someone who seemed much less panicked than everyone else. A person in a robe, seeming to be enjoying the chaos erupting around them. Having a bad feeling about it, the adventurer rushed away from the horse that had moments ago been a woman, and towards the cloaked figure, grabbing for their sword.

Planning to command the figure to at sword point to tell them what was going on, and requesting them to stop or even reverse it. That had been the plan, until the figure turned around, revealing themselves to be a woman, but as soon as they saw the fire in their eyes, they recognized the look of a mage, one in the middle of a powerful spell streak.

“Oh, and who is this,” they asked as soon as they spotted the adventurer, “Someone come to defend these crooks?! How much are they paying you to defend their thievery?”

“I don’t know what you mean,” the adventurer replied, “But I must request you to stop and turn these people back before I am forced to-.”

“People? People? These were never people,” the mage responded mockingly, “Do you know how much they wanted for a horse?! Far more than an animal is worth. But now I have my pick, and for free. But none of these horses seem to be what I need. Maybe you’ll be what I’m looking for, instead…”

With that, it was too late for the adventurer. The mage hit them with a powerful strike of magic, and in that instant the adventurer knew they should have taken the advice of that woman before she became one of the many horses now running around in the market. Now the adventurer would be joining them, unless they were indeed what the mage was looking for, whatever that was. Whatever the case, though, there was no way their feet would be rested any time soon…

This is probably the most edited image I’ve put up, and took a lot longer to get the way I wanted than it probably should have, but I’m pretty pleased with the result. If you’d like to see a bunch more content like this, be sure to check out my patreon at www.patreon.com/DS26
