Update:Yet another update,at least it shows progression albeit incredibly slow and painfull to watch progression.Curves, selective colour,de-noise,cloning,rotation,new border and a brand spanking new title......did anybody read all that?

how do you make the background black? is it after effects?

I usually hang up a black sheet to act as my background (or even just a t-shirt sometimes) and so long as the subject is well lit and there isnt to much light on the background it should create a black background.You may need to to do a bit of cloning or burning depending on the circumstances but all things being equal it works quite well.
