Description Here is the second of three (or four depending if I've had enough of drawing the same picture) of the same picture using different media. This second uses only red and black Bic ball-point pens.

Red + Black Bic ball-point pens on A5 Bristol Board.

Wow, I can almost hear the sound of the wine as it sloshes into the glass. I especially love the thumbnail image of this. Looks so much like a photo. Great job!

Everyone seems to be drawing black and white pictures of water in glass using graphite, so I thought I'd try something different.

Wow... I didn't know you could do that with pens! It must take great skill, which you certainly have!

Bic pens??? It's imposible, they only serve to write faults in the exams.

I thought I'd redress the balance for which red Bic pens are traditionally used!

Joilieder [2011-08-23 14:57:48 +0000 UTC]

That is amazing!! Both versions! You are to be especially commented for the glass - it's balanced out. I don't see how you have so much control over a silly little Bic pen. There are differenct shades of black, wow!!

Brilliant!!!

6re9 In reply to Joilieder [2011-08-23 21:26:01 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Getting the ellipse and the curves balanced was done using a grid and a simple pencil outline otherwise there is always a detectable fault when done via freehand - our eyes are too good at discerning symmetry.

Oh my gosh, such great use of ballpoint pens. I keep on meaning to experiment with multiple ballpoint pen colors myself. This is very inspiring to me!

You're welcome. I've never worked with bic pens. I don't know how you did that!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

6re9 In reply to TheLunaLily [2011-08-23 07:58:57 +0000 UTC]

Try drawing lots of tight, parallel lines whilst holding the pen very lightly and then cross-hatch part of the same pattern. You can get quite different shades.

My apologies for the language, but that's truly stunning with just 2 shitty pens.

What'chu talking about? Bic is the best. Papermate, now those are the supreme overlord of shitty pens.

hmm... i've had issues with both. but i suppose Bic is slightly less shitty.

Haha, fair enough. It's tricky finding the right brand of pen to work with.
