Nice picture of the #91. I'm glad they brought back the GT-S, my friend has a 2001 Dodge Viper ACR in black and HRE rims. Only one in PA.

Yeah, I missed the Vipers. I've got a few pics of earlier racing Vipers in my "other race types" gallery, aside from what's in the ALMS gallery. Vipers are great, but they're beasts and shouldn't be disrespected. A rep from Transport Canada told me back around 2004 that the average life span of a Viper (in Canada at the time) was about six hours of driving.

Team SRT really stepped it up with this new Generation. They are beasts indeed. If you really think, Vipers can last years, but when you run it 200MPH for 6 hours, thats long, so it will take a toll on the engine, transmission, rear differential, everything.

That's not really what he meant, though. Transport Canada compiles safety information on vehicles driven on Canadian roads, and many Vipers didn't even make it to the new owner's home, they would wreck them on the way. High performance cars demand respect, and too many people play video games and then expect the actual car to behave the same way. To paraphrase Mike Sheehan, "Alas, all too often, Vipers end up illustrating what happens when too much money, too much car, and too little talent arrive at the same place at the same time." I'm a PCA member, and the one thing the track instructors always say is that the first thousand dollars of improvements you invest in your car should be in driver training.

These are wicked fast. The older SRTs were good at Mosport because of the long straight, but they often had trouble in turn five. Neither of these had any trouble that weekend. I agree, I like this look too.

I suppose that's a good way to tell if you've got enough power haha

I haven't driven anything of the sort either, he was talking about the Porsche 917/30 that could produce 1580 HP at full boost. In 1973 that was no small feat!

Even by today's standards, that's a ridiculous amount of power haha. And it makes it that much more impressive that even Carroll Shelby feared it!

Yes, and that was only with two wheels giving it traction too. Many have called the 917/30 "The Can-Am Killer" because it dominated the last season, but I believe it was the Arab Oil Embargo that was the real cause.
