I've had this character in storage for waiting for 2nd character slots to become available for.... a reALLY LONG TIME? I had to doodle him a new battlecard, because the old version I had waiting in the wings was so outdated

anyways, this is my dumb child. nothing exciting. idek why I keep trying, honestly, but I still have hope for this boy >:0

One major flaw: the illusion wears off when he or the space he is warping is touched. Also, he tends to make minor mistakes when copying the appearance of someone he knows, like incorrect eye color or slight height difference.Nature:

Because he is very easily bored, Nero is always looking for some way to find adventure, usually by means of getting into trouble and pushing the boundaries/rules. Though he may seem brave, he can actually get rather reckless in his pursuit of a good time and a rush of adrenaline, and his actions often end in unintended consequences.

Nero is at his best when he is casually hanging around with friends, playfully teasing them and messing around. He has fears of abandonment and being alone, so he tries his best to keep friends in his life as much as possible. The way he interacts with these friends often involves a lot of playful teasing, though he never intends to genuinely insult or hurt them.

Nero is the type of person who, though often absent-minded, never forgets important days like birthdays or anniversaries, and always goes all out to make the person whose day it is feel important and special.

Because of the seed of evil planted in his mind by his trainer, Nero often has a tendency to occasionally, compulsively twist the truth, and use both lies and illusion to manipulate people into getting his way, or just making situations more 'interesting'. More often than not, he does this habitually, without realizing what he has done, and it gets away from him until a lot of harm and emotional pain has been caused before he finally understands that it's all his fault. To an extent, he honestly can't help it most times, and is trying to rid himself of this habit.

Due to past betrayals, Nero doesn't tend to open up to people very quickly, and most often bottles up and hides his emotions from others until he can't bear it any longer. It will take a long time to build up a bond of trust with him, unless you find some way to prove that you're not going to use or turn against him. He will rarely, if ever, share details of his past-- let alone his entire life story-- with anybody, even if they prompt him.

Background:
Nero's birth was the result of a short love affair between his mother-- a skitty-- and another skitty, or so she thought. His father was really a Zoroark in disguise, which was the cause of much shock to his mother and her friends and family when her son was born with black hair and tan skin. Although his mother realized she had been duped, she couldn't bear to abandon baby Nero, and ultimately raised him in slight fear of her own child and his potential capabilities for most of his childhood.
Despite her apprehensiveness towards her own son, there really wasn't much to be feared about a pre-adolescent Nero. He was an average child, despite being easily embarrassed and frustrated, and a bit of a loner. Because his mother connected Nero so deeply with his father, fearing that he would grow up to become like him, they always had a bit of a distant relationship, and he always craved to impress his mother and earn her love. He excelled in school, and at Track and Field, and when he graduated at 16, he told his mother that he wanted to get out and explore the world. She tried to warn him that the world outside their home wasn't an easy place for somebody as poor as they were, or especially a gijinka, but he wasn't going to be stopped. He wanted to make her proud somehow.
It wasn't long into Nero's journey before he met a trainer, the one who would soon become his trainer. This man, whose last name Nero would take on to become Nero Blake, taught him that through the powers of greed and manipulation, it was possible to obtain all of the riches and power that Nero had never even really known that he'd wanted so badly before. But if being rich and powerful was what impressed people, and that's what would make his peers, his family, and most importantly, his mother love him, then he was willing to listen up and learn from the master.
At this point, he finally learned to properly utilize his illusion powers, mastering the power of deception at the hand of his trainer in exchange for helping him with a variety of tasks. It felt like there was nothing the two of them couldn't accomplish-- including landing his trainer in prison, apparently. As it turns out, he was an accomplished con man, and was only using Nero and his abilities to go through and get away with his crimes. Thankfully, Nero himself was let off the hook, as he was both an unwilling participant and only a pokemon, but was told to leave Unova at least for the time being.
Not that he wanted to stay, anyways. He wanted to get as far, far away from it all as possible-- away from his 'trainer', his team, his father, and even his mother, who at first wouldn't speak to him after hearing of the trouble he'd gotten into. And so, he ended up in a place far from home, trying to restart his life and potentially unlearn the horrible things that were imprinted upon his brain throughout the years by the evil man he looked up to so much.
Fighting Style:
Relentless illusions and trickery combined with keen agility help to conceal the fact that Nero has little to no aptitude for actual combat whatsoever. His strategy is simple: distract and manipulate his enemy for as long as possible, allowing himself the opportunity to either escape, wear down their stamina, or sneak in enough cheap shots to ensure an easier victory. Few tactics are too dirty for this fox in battles that really count, from sucker punches to psychological manipulation.
Strategy aside, Nero relies almost entirely on his dexterity to survive in battle, striking swiftly and gracefully dodging incoming attacks. His own power leaves a lot to be desired, however, and his defenses are low enough that two or three good hits on him could easily do him in, depending on the foe.

I'm not good at drawing it, but he has kind of beady eyes and a pointy-ish nose, an overall foxlike face.
while he's good at track and running, he's pretty awful at any sport involving a ball or hand-eye coordination
sticks keychains/phone straps on everything he owns. multiple ones. so much rattling
he wears those sneakers with the wheels in the heel, like a 12 year old.
his canine teeth are sharp and fang-like
