I rewrote Asmoday's past, soooo now you can read this.
This is not the end of her story, ehe~
Unknown God aka Asmoday in my AU is a person who hails from Khaenri'ah. She and Dain are siblings.
Asmoday was a very ambitious kid. She wanted more than just living in the shadow of her older brother, who was famous for being practically* the captain of the Royal Guard.
After some time, the alchemist Gold takes her as an apprentice, which Dainsleif did not quite like.
“I like her ambition, but I don’t have enough such students. She learns everything so quickly... I wonder where Dain is looking, since he wanted to ruin such a talented person?” Gold said. If Dainsleif doesn't trust the alchemist, then Asmoday considers her a friend, and Rhinedottir clearly saw something in her, but she herself had no idea what or even whom.
After some time, King Alberich** himself found out about her thanks to Rhine, who mentioned her in passing. At first, he didn't attach any importance to this, but then he remembered what the Order of the Abyss had told him to.
“You must find the one who is the reincarnation of the Elder Moon. She can handle this task better than anyone. Perhaps she will be haunted by death in the upper lands, but it will be worth it. This prophecy must be fulfilled...”
Asmoday was supposed to travel to Teyvat to find the Genesis Pearl, which was supposedly located in Fontaine. And so it happened, only instead of a pearl there was a key that led to Celestia. Celestia... For some reason, she always thought that there were always Gods, but... Other than Istaroth and the sealed wounded Primordial God, there was not a soul there. It's amazing that Celestia's Second Throne was missing... Or was it a trap?
At the behest of her Father, she gave Asmoday the Pearl, saying that it was fate itself, and she was here for a reason. She was offered to stay, but she refused.
"Sorry, but... I have a brother who is waiting for me, and I would not want to disappoint him with thoughts of my death. Moreover, it would be nice if we spent his little vacation together. I'm sure it would make his life a little better."
She returns to Khaenri'ah after a year of travel. She was happy that she could help her home improve, but above all, she was happy for her brother, who would finally be able to take a break from his work. Now she could live the way she used to, but... Not all good things last forever.
Literally the very next day, she is accused of stealing the Genesis Pearl, as only she and the king knew of its whereabouts. It was as if she had been framed... But who would benefit from this?
No matter how much Gold and Dainsleif tried to prove that Asmoday potentially couldn't do this, they still did not believe in it. It was terrible...
"Stupid naive child with stupid dreams who goes against the rules just like her mentor..." this is how the royal mage of Khaenri'ah spoke of her.
A couple of days later, she was released due to a sharp deterioration in her health. Some strange illness struck her, because of which she did not live even a week after something was discovered.
For Dainsleif, her death was mourning. Literally the only person who was very dear to him died. A couple of days later, for reasons unknown to him, he was promoted to captain of the Royal Guard, but he didn't care. He just continued to do his job, but now no one was waiting for him at home...
And a year later, the irreversible happened... Dain, returning from [any nearby region of Teyvat to Khaenri'ah] finds that his house is destroyed...
* Dainsleif was not a captain of the Royal Guard at the time, but he was a candidate because he worked very hard and well.
** King Irmin was overthrown, so Khaenri'ah was taken over by one of the Alberichs.
Again something according to Genshin AU.
I was talking about what I'll post after dinner, but something went wrong...
Before I came up with the AU, I was somehow not particulary interested in what kind of character besides the travelers appeared at the very beginning. But as I delved into the lore, I had a theory that Dain and Asmoday are siblings. The theory is fragile, because in its explanation I can only cite the animatic from the Battle Pass and what Dain said at the end of the official Genshin videos. Maybe he was talking about ONLY Lumine, but for the sake of my theory, I somehow try to ignore it.
My ability to translate pictures from my head into words is just terrible, but I tried to state everything briefly and kind of understandble.
For translation, I used Google translator, and if something is not clear, then ask in the comments. I will be glad to answer. ^^
