Description Pt. II of Lanthrish Locales
Pt. I "The Great Tower of Skye" [link]
Pt. III "Aleth Hult" [link]
We have arrived to our second stop on the Lanthrish Loacales tour. Palinroe, meaning "Holy Way", is home to the Paladins of the Elemental Lance Orders. Their mountain fortress sits on a dome of solid rock surrounded a by a hot spring that flows forth from deep under the mountain, to a waterfall, and ending in a small lake at the foot of the mountain. The walled pathway leading up the face before you is the actual "Palinroe". The "pivot" towers are crowned with four angels, each representing the angels charged to oversee the elements.
At the very top you can catch a glimpse of the Great Hall and the dome of the Templos en El-Ardana - Sanctuary of the Lord's Elements. A beacon appears on one of four towers about mountain's crown.
The near-approach to the lake bridge is lined with statues of angels bowing and bearing lances.
Around the mountain can be seen several towers and abodes. Most are defensive, some are agricultural. Inside the fortress walls are various building of trade and training. There are keeps provided for each Order of Earth, Water, Fire and Air.
Not all paladins stay here. There are outposts and patrols throughout East Lanthranolund that they traverse, for Lanthrish land is sacred land. A day is coming when the Orders shall face the task for which they were ultimately formed - Battle with the Ungod's Minions . . . . . . . . .

14"x17" medium drawing paper.Pencil, Faber Castel Grey Brush pens, digital work for the mists and beacon light.
Appx. 10 hrs. to completion.

There are a couple more images in my gallery that go with this to make a series: "Lanthrish Locales"
The Great Tower of Skye & Aleth Hult.
I do have a couple more locales in mind. Patience, my friend. Patience.

Well, it has been many months since I haven't been adding a favorite to my list. And there it goes. A favorite for this one! I saw the word " massive " which trully blends with the drawing. I love it. I love the trees ( yeah, it's me again, the guy who loved the trees in that other drawing of yours, the tree hugger ). I love the way it is carved into the mountain. The details make the whole thing awesome. The various installations on the left and right ( which implies tunnels and people living IN the mountain ). The flock of birds! The fire and mist ( which is trully amazing 'cause it blends with the drawings and I know this very hard to do ). Through this immense and colossal artwork there is subtlety and a gentle hand behind it. You can easily see yourself actually living in there, walking through the tunnels if an almost infinite beauty. You can come and clean your weary body in an impressive outdoor pool. Eat the rarest and most delightful meals coming from each and every surrounding kingdoms. Pleasure yourself with the finest of women ( or men, for some ). For reservations please call 1-800-PALINROE. Be quick before the volcano we built our city on finally erupts!

You've imagined Palinroe the way I have - except for the pleasure with women, AND certainly not men !!! Paladins have to maintain holy composure, and though Palinroe is no hedonistic center I imagine they have accomodations for visitors. So, sure! They should call that number!
As for a volcano, none to worry! I created the core as a solid dome/shaft of bedrock. A hot spring, deep down below, flows up around the rock and creates a misty natural mote atop the mount befor flowing out and down the south face to cool in a small lake and continue on to the sea to be carried on currents across the whole world and bring cleansing and healing to all the big beautiful whales that like to eat krill - You know, after ages of swimming creatures in the ocean and all their pee and poo . . . . . . . nevermind . . . . . .
Um, . . . . . . Thank you very much for the wonderful comment and the !!!!

The immense detail you put into this is simply breathtaking! I love the perspective here, it makes the city looks so gigantic. The zigzagging road is like a cross between Minas Tirith and Dunharrow.

Altogether marvellous!
