that descripto was so horribly passive-aggressive i want to stop drawing altogether. (not really.) but it was still thick.
i actually think this is a triumph of yours, tech-wise. so if that's what it [link] use the anger. i mean... i'd be a hypocrite if i said i didn't. (fuck you, ~an-jing . fuck you.)
the texturing on the chainmail in particular; that's resourceful. the armor looks great. if you have trouble shading, PRACTICE. you draw well enough, make it happen!

I don't usually do direct anger, so most of the time even my general irritability comes off as that. XD Sorry if it bothered you.
Who's An-jing?
Shading is so vital, but I've never been patient enough to sit down for an extra hour to figure out my light source, decide what the light touches and what it doesn't, and then seamlessly apply it to the art.
You should see what this shit looks like as a broken down file. Ghastly.

Meh. If there's a way to conveniently stop time, I'll consider actually learning how to draw the "right" way, including shading. Until then, my nasty flat shit will live on.
As I went through her gallery, I noticed how she barely breaks her mold. I saw maybe, three, four characters with a distinctive difference?

it's funny because i told her that once; the character designs, anyway, yeah they're all the same-- mop-haired strong-chinned bois with ebil-eyes and bad posture. but shading and drawing hands, and backgrounds (when she does them.)
but really; your stuff isn't horrible like you say it is. and nobody is good by accident or withut some effort. i see those little 17-18 year old kids who have their own fuckin artbooks out and people who are 21 and already taking solo commissions from big animating companies, and you know what? fuck em. you and i are only as good as we are, and not GOLDENGODS OF DEVART, because we fucking have lives.
when you see people who are suspiciously young and crazy talented, check two things: if they live in some remote country where there is naturally nothing to do and the internet has only recently made life bearable for people under thirty (Eastern European countries are fuckin nototirous for that) and if they never ever talk about anything but anime/art/art school/nerdy shit in their journals. and not nerdy shit like "i went to a LAN and had a lot of fun and then we went to Denny's and talked about Star Wars" no that counts as having a life.
if i wanted to have art as my life and job, i would not have the friends or the drinking gusto or the awesome other stuff in my life. i'd just be art. same goes for you, you've got school and relationships always going on. and your writing (the important part) is strong enough that your art muscle is just acceptably smaller. (same here.)
