Random- but do you know what type of spider this is? We have TONS of them around here in the summer, and some get to have a back bigger than a marble... They freak me the heck out! (No offense... All spiders do. Lol) But I do have to say that this is an absolutely spectacular shot

It's some species of Common Orb Weaver or Garden Spider. They're very common in the US, and I would imagine other places as well.

Ah. Yeah, I'm in the US, and live in the woods, so I see them EVERYWHERE... *shudder*. But like I said; even though they freak me out like no other, this is an amaaazing shot!

When I'm lucky enough to find a cooperative subject I try to avoid disturbing them too much and move in for the shot. Most of my macros (not using the term in the technical sense) are taken with the lens about an inch or less away from them. In some cases (like this one [link] ) I'm literally pressed against them
