Description I loved Moby's "The Last Day" so much that I decided to animate a film based around it, inspired by personal experience with spirituality.

I've been very encouraged by a lot of the kind feedback I've been getting on my stories, and now that I feel a little more confident about my writing I've decided to announce my plans to eventually publish a novel I wrote last year
Now my goal is to drum up support and find a following in order to make that dream a reality, so if you liked this story, it would mean a lot to me if you followed me online- by adding me to you DeviantWatch, following me and my art on Facebook,  or subscribing to my YouTube channel.

Thanks again to everyone for your kind support! I have a lot more planned in a lot of different styles and media, and I can't wait to start sharing it!

How does one go about submitting a video file? The "film and animation" category does not appear for me, and I cannot even submit a video to my scraps.

I had trouble with that at first too, but you have to apply to join the DeviantArt film community before you can submit work in those categories.

Here's a link referring to how you can go about doing so:

It's been a while since I had to go through it, but if I remember right it wasn't too lengthy a process.

I hope that helps! And best of luck submitting

Ah, there's the problem. I'm just starting out. I haven't got any work out yet, just a work in progress.

Hey, thanks so much! ^_^ I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm working on a new film now, hopefully to be finished later on this year This one will be quite a bit more lighthearted haha, but I'd really love to do more similar to The Last Day in the future

This is Beautiful and kinda sad. i Thought that the little Monk was going to make his sacrifice to to save his people and stop the sun or meteor from burn everything. but the last moment shows that maybe it wasn't a Ending but rather a form of ascension? we may never know.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aart-ish In reply to CapitalClassShip [2015-02-17 14:39:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much And I suppose it's kind of an open ending in a way. Visually, we think it is indeed the end of the monk's story, but at the same time, when other people look at the statue they still see something otherworldly and miraculous. So it's impossible for us to really know if there was as much to his quest as he believed there was, or if he was only fooling himself. As I mentioned to one commenter, it's really a film more about questions than answers, because they're questions that no one really knows the answers to- and certainly not me XD
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks so much for watching ^_^

Im not sure what I saw.  Im not sure what I heard, but I AM sure that this aniamtion was soemthing Ill never... quite forget....

What does it have to do with spirituality?  What is spirituality to begin with?  This film... says alot without a single word, much like how spirituality, in order to be truly understood, needs to be experienced, rather than read about.

What is The Last Day?  What does the verse in the beginning allude to?  Did the "hero", as we take him, end his journey on a good note or, merely as an act of angry retribution by his god? Who will know but each and every one of us inside, for whom the message speaks to us alone.

Aart-ish In reply to KitsuneDzelda [2015-02-13 14:18:56 +0000 UTC]

Wow, what an amazing response! Thank you ^_^
I'm debating whether I should answer your questions or leave them to be thought about, because I'm quite glad that you brought them up And really it's more a film about asking questions than it is receiving them; in fact I think that's a crucial part of what makes it spiritual. So I'm happy to hear it's something that's sparked the same kind of thoughts and questions that inspired it to begin with
Thanks again!!

Okay, you got me curious so I Googled it haha. Here's what I read:

"It started as a joke a few years ago. Geddy Lee used to have a bunch of bass amps on his side of the stage. At one point he started running his basses direct and relying totally on monitors so the amps became unnecessary. He and the road crew thought it would be funny to put washers and dryers up there instead. The joke kind of caught on and became a running gag. On the latest tour they traded the washers and dryers for chicken basting vending machines!"

Sounds like Rush humor XD
