How do they age? The 40 year old look and act like teenagers.

Though the wing hands are more expressive it does make them less unique in their physiology.

Awesome, it's nice knowing a bit more about Mettytune dragons in general.
Β "Merrymen" huh? Interested in learning more about them.

Awesome, bravo, that was an awesome profile.
And the Felsic Race looked cute while the Mafic looked hot--lets pretend I never said that last word π

Somewhat rare morph of a beige/pinkish underbelly... *looks at our main trio*

I don't think it ever fully sank in with me just how gangly the Mafics are compared to the Felsic. Furthermore, I this one picture told a great deal about Merrytune.
There are a few things that grab my attention though, now this might come out as sounding trifling.
Terciary is actually spelled tertiary, and you misspelled burst as bust. One last thing is the usage of the word morph. Now I only just happened to know what you were referring to, but a contraction of an unfamiliar word might be confusing for some readers.
Just as a suggestion, try using the word once in its whole form first.
Hopefully, my remarks may help you in the future. Great work, as always.Β Β

Well, nothing is wrong with the word morph per se, I just thought it would paint a clearer picture if you used the full word morphology before using abbreviations. That's just the type of writing style in which I'm most familiar. I could also very well be mistaken on the full meaning of morph. (I always though it was abbreviating either morphology, morphological, or both)Β

Morph isn't an abbreviation. It's a thing used in animals to refer to color and pattern variations.

Yup! You see it a lot with pet reptiles. All those different colors they come in are called morphs, I actually learned the term myself looking up ball pythons.

Re: The Feet.
Plantigrade feet seem to offer more stability, and they can be better for supporting weight. But the trade off is that they aren't very good for speed. So these dragons, compared to similarly sized Digitigrade animals, probably can't run as fast. That being said, given that they can fly, they probably don't need to be able to run rapidly.
With that said, reptiles are actually all Plantigrade (some extinct reptiles like dinosaurs being the exception). So the ancestors of these dragons were probably Plantigrade, and they just never met any selective pressures to force them to evolve Digitigrade feet.

No they'd still be able to run fine, it's more a matter of which leg is better for running. Think bears vs dogs. Bears can run, but things like wolves are better.
And yeah, but sometimes it's fun. Honestly I wasn't expecting anyone to care either, I just hopped in because everyone else was.
And thank you!

Truly beautiful, And very informative! I am sure I will come back to this many times!Β
It is hilarious that Everyone talks about the feet, when I think the highlight is the prehensile hands on the wings! I know I love it when they are gesturing with them!!Β
Have a great day!!

You know for reference, Β Β itβs a beautiful way to do an info sheet! And I like to check every now and again to see if people actualy follow these things...Β
Β I am curious about the Merry fellowship but I figured that was yet to come in the comic... but if you would like to explain I am all ears! Β By the title I would guess it is a group of beings that enjoy being together and discussing ... things...Β Β you know Merry= happy and fellowship= a group gathered together for the perpose of discussion... maybe I should check my dictionary... because I am guessing this group is not always happy with the discussion.Β
Anyhoo please forgive my wondering mind...
have a great day!

Was there an evolutionary advantage to plantigrade over digitigrade feet?
π: 0 β©: 2
imthebeyondpale In reply to geekliberty [2018-04-25 03:46:59 +0000 UTC]
A platigrade stance for all 4 legs? That is intresting. I understand about the forelegs but the reer ones im interesting about due to the evolutionary stand point. Plantigrade legs on a quadrpedal lifeform are tend to be digigraded due to the size and much more eficcient musccle mass distribution to acomidate the stance.
Care to explain? Or their is going to be aditional information about their biology on the next beastiary dragon entery?

Understnadable answer. Im just used to having stories that follow a resonable path to make fantasy cretures be resonable bioganiclly in form, a.e. plantigrade feet thing. But that is good to see somtging new to the table even if it insgnificant (or major. It depends) detail such as this
